tian jin is the sea port for beijing

all the goods from northern china are exported from tian jin

it is the gateway to the north

it is also called jin men or jin gate.

there were many CMA people gathering and wu guan

more recently

Yuan shi kai trained Qing's new army in Xiao Zhan, Tian Jin.

there were many CMA instructors invited to teach the officer cadets there.

all the graduates later became northern warlords or bei yang jun fa.

there were many foreigners living there in the first half of 20th century.

In short, it is a nice place to live b/c it is close to the sea.

northern china is dry and windy. bei jing is very humid in the summer with sand storms and all, heat and everything

tian jin is so much nicer to live with modern developments, too

---

it is a pearl of northern china.

the counter parts would be shang hai (central plains/central China) and can ton (guang zhou) (south China)
