Anyone in here practice Iron Neck? I finished up my practice today and before I ever had the chance to start Qigong, my left arm started spazzing out like the funny bone was tapped. Weird! Can anyone solve this riddle?

Hellswindstaff,
Possible concussive trauma involving the brachial plexus would be my first guess. The brachial plexus could transfer a nerve shock to the ulnar nerve. The ulnar nerve is what causes the "funny bone" effect.

Did you learn iron neck from a qualified instructor? If not STOP before you cause irreversible damage. Hanging and striking are the last phases in iron neck not the first.

So you were hanging yourself and now you are worried about having some nerve issues?

Why not ask your teacher who is guiding you through this rather advanced and serious gung.

Or is it you are doing this on your own and your 16.

I knew a guy that did Iron neck and he could take a pretty good shot to the neck.
I choked him out just as fast as anyone else.
Just an FYi for you.

If you had learned it proper, you'd be ok!

the proper iron neck.

If you are self teaching yourself this, stop, it is foolish to do this. If you are actually learning this, speak to your sifu asap. :)

How's the neck shoulder thing going.

I started the concept of massage right after practicing a technique...

My understanding of Japanese sword making blends with my gained comprehension of using muscles..Warmer-moldable; cools-Stiffens. Before you finish you might try to grab the muscle and stretch it some. This Extra stretch reduces the cool-down-rebound, which might typically be greater than the gain.

The balance is ending the training that moment with enough extra play that when the muscle-stuffs contracts it contracts to around standard lenth to only slightly tighter. Your skill comes from that very slight continual tighness producing strength and control. But it's a Slow boil. Water in a tea-kettle will boil on a low heat (3). Also Keep the heat on as with sword making and only shrt cools. It means training throughout a day more than Just going to class...one might think.

But this is Ernie Moore Jr.'s Kung-Fu (attempt), Squirrel think, and My Say.

Iron Neck training is not practical IMHO. But I do strength training on my neck w/o using any equipment.

The Chinese refer to Kudzu as Ge-Gen. You can find many references to it in Chinese medicine. Kudzu has many other applications besides loosening the neck and shoulder muscles; one of these uses is being looked at by Harvard Medical as a treatment to reduce alcohol cravings.
