I thought VT was not your cup of tea??

Wow maybe we'll finally get to see some of that "attached" DCF....

Love the picture Robert, looks awfully linear though (for a "non linear" art)...

I doubt it, because then he'd have to call it "classless" wing chun

I'll tell you... If Robert could have coaxed T to appear in the series then he would have just sold a whole load of copies right here, right now..

No doubt T would never allow himself to be on video..

I'm not on the DVD. FWIW, my adivce to Robert was not to make a DVD -- as I don't think WCK can be learned or taught from video. I think WCK is based on feeling (being an attached fighting method) and that you need to experience it firsthand.

I have an extensive collection of books and vidoes of almost every MA.
I have Robert's book and like it, so the DVD, for me, is just one more for my collection.
And since Robert and I agree on many points, I am sure there will be stuff that I can "use".

I´m looking forward for the DVD. Sifu Robert has a lot to teach and to share.

Whilst I agree that you cannot learn a MA from a DVD, they are a great learning tool in their own right.

DVD's have given me insight (and the net, the tube etc) into how others do WC/VT/WT or whatever. Back when I first learned in the early 90's the world was a much smaller place. The occasional book and video was around, but if I wanted to see how *insert any name here* performs WC then I would have to go to their school. Difficult if they are in HK or Oz or the US (for me anyway).

Also they are a good reference, I have a DVD of Kevin Chan doing SLT. If I want to know how its done properly;) and refresh myself with his commentry then I will watch it.

Obviously it would be better if I had a question to ask Sifu, but I am sure he would stop answering my calls after the 3rd one in the same evening:D Then kick my ass the next time he saw me!! A DVD is a quick reference and a way of perhaps working something out myself.

Jim,

For the record, WCK is not a strictly linear art - within the lines, there are circles, spirals, and angles.

Even a straight punch has an inward spiral of the forearm and thrusting of the elbow.

Tan Sao has the same inward and upward spiral.

Jing Gerk is a circular thrusting upwards and through the target.

Even Bik Ma has an upward rising component and a downward sinking motion.

Best regards,

You can learn a lot from a DVD, as long as you have a Point f reference to what is being taught AND you actually train it with someone.

Agreed...it also proves as a way to get INFORMATION (notice I didn't say skill) about other's viewpoints and also to serve as a reference.

Every martial arts enthusiast will have some sort of collection of books and dvds nowadays I think. With information so readily available it would be almost stupid not to look around at least a little bit.

BTW...is that the only sales channel for purchasing the dvd? Or is it available through Amazon or Crane of any of those folks?

I plan on getting this set as well as I think Robert to be one of the iconic wing chun folks of this generation.

Sifu Chu, is the masterclass wing chun kuen dvd set ok for complete beginners like me or is it more geared for advanced practitioners? I'll end up buying it either way but if it's more for advanced students I will wait a few months before purchasing. BTW I am a big fan of yours and always look forward to reading your posts.

It is impossible for the human body to work in a linear fashion.
Everything is circular or rotative.

Master Class WCK DVD's are for anyone interested in WCK. It will show you the structure tests, core objectives, tools, and ways to use body structure empty handed or with the pole.

Volume one will show you the concepts needed in WCK
Volume two shows the tools
Volume three teaches the poles and drills

I don't focus on the three sets or Jong in the series. The idea is to go beyond the forms and look at the application. The lineage you train in shows you forms anyway.

I am sure my information is unique and eventually will get assimilated easily.

Yes, the super secret, special disciple stuff - order yours today!

I particularly liked Animal House -

Dean Wormer's plotting to get rid of Delta House]
Greg Marmalard: But Delta's already on probation.
Dean Vernon Wormer: They are? Well, as of this moment, they're on DOUBLE SECRET PROBATION!

WTF?!

As far as I know its available on Budovideoes or through Masters Magazine. You can check if Amazon or other places have it.

I'm just an ordinary guy. More acupuncturist/Chinese medicine practitioner than martial artist, these days.

Martial arts is hard - every one needs conditioning, time, less commitments, good training partners, good coaching and instruction, and money to support your endeavors. Its a hard life to do it full time teaching or competing. As a teacher, there are late nights, needy students, being a psychologist for the students, students with monetary problems, etc. Worse, there are no groupies in martial arts. :) Well, maybe MMA has babes like Ariany Celesteand other ring girls.

So, when you say.......

Robert is very nice to send me his DVD as a gift.

I am on my way to the second disk.

In my opinion, even just 1/2 of the first disc worth everything. It is a very pragmatic teaching that teach one how to handle Dynamic flow. So, I recommend it to the serious advance WCners.

RC,

Thanks for the precious gift! Will email you later after I watch all of the disc.

I need to tell the world here that it is excellent and teaching which you have created is very clear and precise.

Best Regards
Hendrik

It is real effective WCK in today's language.
