Gene LeBell Counter Judeo Throw

I apologize in advance if this has been posted before ...

I am not a practitioner of Judo, but I think it would be a useful skill to have. Now, I know Gene LeBell is famous for his Judo, wrestling, and not to mention his stunt work. But I have never seen him in action. Check out this gif of a counter Judo throw that I found. It looks like Gene is the throwee in this version:

How awesome is that? All he did was leap over the sweep leg and used his opponent's forward momentum to steal the throw (I realize this is a demonstration).

Its a "standard" counter at brown belt level if I remember correctly.

a simple demo doesn't do than man justice, his judo record was very very good, and his grappling in general first class (afterall he trained mr roddy piper enough said)

wearing pink gi doesn't impress me......choking segal out twice and training one of my all time favourite wrestlers does :D

I had a t-shirt that said " Gene LeBell choked me out" !
I got it at a seminar he did way back when.
Too bad it is gone.
Gene choked me out and it was my honour to be choked out by him.

Gene did a great job! Other than throwing, he did use alot of ne-waza techniques.

This was the first SANCTIONED one in the US, there were many more before that.

I just watched the first of a seven-part interview with him. At one point, he talks about his autobiography "The Toughest Man Alive," but then admits that he is been dead for the last three years. HA!

That's funny you mentioned it. I just finished reading Gene's autobiography (very funny, I highly recommend it) and he found out a few years ago that he was of Russian Jewish descent. So I guess you could call this the Jew throw!
