Know of any good games for a kid's kung fu class? Swap them here.

1. Bean bag game.-have them all get in a circle and toss a few bean bags around. If they drop it they get(push ups, crunches, etc) bad throw are also rewarded with push ups. More bags the merier.

2. Bat game- get a foam nerf bat and swing slowly at the kids. If they get touched by it they have push ups outside of game area. They must roll and dodge to escape.

3. Obstical coarse. Plan ahead, and have them roll to one corner, do an animal walk to a punching bag, jump over it etc.

4. Sumo-on mats have the kids square off using Sumo rules try to get them to unbalance each other or push each other out. relatively safe. be carefull

5. Animal walk relays (self explanitory)

6. Horse stance freeze tag. Great warm up game. Just like freeze tag only the frozen must be in a 90 degree horse stance shaking while they wait to be unfrozen. The less agile get very strong legs.

7. Steal the bacon. Have equal number on both sides pick a number. Call out a number and two players from either side(from a low fighting stance) will spring towards the bacon. The winner must carry the "bacon" past the line from whence they came without being touched. Winner gets less push ups /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

any others? Please share

Depends upon the age of the kids. For middle school maybe, but for younger ones from grammer school on down you have to be very, very careful. Be CAREFUL because the reward/punishment games #1 and 2 you've just described can open you to child abuse charges. If a parents sits thru the type of session and complains w/the reasons above: you are open to litagation (which will definitely **** off your GM) and you will probably get shut down.

So what to do? Teens can mentally and physically handle the protocols. The younger kids have an abundance of energy so you use that to your advantage. How long is the class? #3 and #5 works very well. You can have various types of relays w/kicks, palms, or punches. Let the kids play and imitate a little praying mantis (not really your 8 steps style, but it'll get corrected later for the real and potential long time students). It's okay for them to PLAY around that way (ratton rings and gripping ratton sticks) since Sifu Sun trained that way himself. Have them do team relays to compete and whoever wins can claim being No. 1 for the day.

There is already a set curriculum for teens and adults for the Shyun program, and that is fine. With the little ones, make the parents happy and they'll support you like the PTA. That's how Tat Mou has the lock on the kids' business in SF.

Of course we are talking about grammer school kids and under /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
