Thanks to William for this awesome picture find online! I have always wondered what it would be like to go back and see how those guys trained 100 years ago!

Enjoy,

I was just going to say, it's obvious that none of those guys had an understanding of so-called "internal" practice...

Clearly their pecs will become hangers in old age. If you see a real internal master in his old age, his bosoms are plump and perky, and can still make a newborn's mouth pucker.

no, I'm sure that they did a lot of forms, all the time

Dale Dugas

yeah they would never strength train with stone locks, barrels full of rocks, barbells, sandbags that were used to train the grip, etc....

They just did qi gong and posed in strongman poses for chicks, its always about the chicks.

Dragonzbane76

ah there just MMA knuckleheads like the rest of us. Clearly my "theory" is that the picture was made purposly black and white and those are props. they are wearing in an exotic location. They are probably going to try and take over the world with the gang they created called "the new world order"

KC Elbows

no, I'm sure that they did a lot of forms, all the time

Clearly they didn't do the real forms. It's just a shame, living in a country with all that jow, and they just didn't care enough to do something about all that swelling.

Don't forget carrying buckets of water up innumerable steps with knives tied to their biceps. Everyone trains that way right?

Are you sure? So far I've only seen guys posting here admiring their physiques!

Personally I am not impressed, I am already built better than all those guys.....I am sure it is all my stair climbing with buckets of water!

Pfft, we all know strength training and muscle endurance are not the work of true TCMA masters. Clearly being both scrawny and weak is the way to go. :D

KC Elbows
07-21-2010, 09:42 AM
We prefer the term "supple".

Scott R. Brown

That is, soft and scrawny arms and legs, but a BIG buddha belly!!

no,Im sure they were standing around smoking cigarrettes and chat about wimen

Yes, I have an enormous belly from breathing exercises. The method is called chijiaozihepijiuquan.

Gene and I have been telling people to come visit this event for a while and LamapaiShifu, Tai Ghik Yahn, Uki came to visit us while we were attending the Zhang Sang Feng Festival.

I will be there next year in PA where it is held.

I also will be at the Tai Chi Gala.

Ill keep everyone in the loop and invite people to come out and be known.

there is some verisimilitude to the above, if one applies a hermeneutic analysis thereupon...

I thought it was those crazy Brazilians lol

it’s nice to see proof of what we all knew , the old school guys cross trained, fought and worked out just like the present day MMA guys, and were always open to new ideas...it’s a shame so many have become closed minded and are chasing an ideal that does not exist (except in their own minds)

seriously thanks for the photos

Excellent!

Though I can see it now brother. In another few years she will bring home a boy and say, "Dad, this is (Insert Name Here), (Insert Name Here), this is my dad"......

When she goes to get her jacket, I can so see you showing him the shovel and bag of lye you have in the corner.
