"Interesting documentary about one of the very secret styles of Praying Mantis. Our director and instructor Carlos Garcia..."

Very nice video RAF!

Is that the Pimen version of Da Fanche or Xiao Fanche?

Very nice clip.

It seems to me it's the first section of Zhaiyao being done as 2 men form. It's definitely not Fanche. I think the last part is about the technique "one elbow covers half of the body" (2:04 mins). I don't remember from which section of Zhaiyao it came.

Yeah, One elbow covers half the body, a technique in 3rd zhai yao. But he is doing it backwards, it is a forward moving attack, not a back up defense.
I think he must have changed it.

BTW, nothing in that video is Mimen Tang Lang. Nor is it Pi Men. Pi Men sounds like ****ing style Mantis.

Zhang De Kui's (so called Mimen Tang Lang) Luan Jie at 2:47

Somewhere on youtube, my shifu is at that same spot doing a portion of third zhai yao including 'One hand covers half the body.'

that last linkLanjie although a little different than then one I teach. that seems to have some extra movements and he doesnt do it very low. Is this just different interpatations? noticed all the back and forth head bobbing almost like duck style

Moving the head can also be seen done here by Su Yuzhang in this version of Luan jie. He finishes with a section of 7th zhai yao. This 1964 version is mostly from Zhang Dekui, probably some artistic additon by Su himself with the 7th zhai yao at the end.

Zhang Dekui often did the bu ding bu ba stance, which is not very low.

awesome clip thanks for finding that. I still regret not going to houston TX and meeting all my kung fu uncles last year abnd will kick my self many times for that,.... I often see different movements added in various sets and just wondered if what i was taught is missing or its the flavor and interpretation of the practioner. , thanks Kevin
