Does anybody know where to find traditional triad, hung league or Chinese freemason MAs or any traditional PAIs in the Northern California area?

I did 5 years of baguazhang studies, and am now looking for something a bit different.

Thanks!

I guess what I'm looking for might not even exist, but I think it might because the original Hung forms reportedly were done in a higher stance, and supposedly done in a small space -- probably something like Hakka MAs in the way they were done, at least from the accounts.

The 'Hung Gar' that I've come across so far that supposedly comes from the 'Hung League' (via Wong Fai Hung and others) -- the steps and stances are larger and bigger stances for some reason, like they were modified later by others.

So I guess what I was looking for are the original MAs or at least closest to them. Maybe I should look when I have good transportation around the Bay Area. I'm currently in North Bay, and that type of thing is probably closer to San Francisco.

That post title didn't come out quite right. No offense, hsk. ;)

Andy, I trust you've read my 2009 September/October cover story (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=830): Chain Reaction (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=838).

Thanks for the link. Yeah, I saw his snake or 'spade hands' video -- I like it.

I guess I'm looking for more the triad version of the stuff that these guys claim to be teaching (www.whitetigerkungu.com, www.bakfupai.com). Like the 'Hung Gar' and CLF but with shorter stances -- the triad versions.

Maybe they don't exist? Or maybe they turned into Hung Gar and CLF. I mean, I've never seen them, so ???

There are systems that claim to teach triad stuff but most of those video's are in chinese. However, there are many things left over from the triads that are still taught in Gung Fu but most people have lost its meaning. some of those things the elements that a triad member or Hung Mun member would recognize is:

The Heaven Earth and Man Salute, Hand Signals: Clenched Fist, Cranes Beak, Tiger Claw, Dragon Claw, Snake and Turtle. You also have postures representing Heaven, Earth, and Man that are still found in forms today. A section in Hung Sing CLF forms have the Fan Qing Fu Ming in it.

Another element of the Triad is the Hoi Jong Patter and Bow of the Hung Sing lineage. The Hoi Jong pattern and bow PERFECTLY fits over the "HUNG" character.

I think that maybe what happened is that the teachers adopted the original forms and modified them for their own style and where they were at the time, etc., but you'd probably know better since you study a style that was associated with that.

Probably the original forms are lost or still secret for some reason.

Here is Taiwan Hung Kuen performing Hung Mun Fist

After watching this one, i see the same elements here that my sigung who was a highly ranked Hung Mun member took pictures of him posing.
