This is not a thread about women in the martial arts and me not wanting to work with them. This is about how our women(mine anyway) have kept us from the martial arts. I was doing martial arts three nights a week(I have no kids) and she would used to complain, "You are going to class again? Do you like beating up people and getting beat up? It is kind of immature. We never spend time together anymore."

This is where I made my mistake. I used logic. I pulled out a calendar and marked down the days and times we spent together and I thought, and hoped, that the sheer power of the information would blast her to reality. The reality was that we spend SO MUCH time together that I barely had time for martial arts let alone anything else.

My logic and evidence did not cow her at all actually. It enraged her even more.

Anyway, do any of the guys(and gals too) find similar situations happening in their homes?

Do you even know your goals in your practice? If so, tell her what you are working towards.

Trust me, if you are joined at the hip, you will fail. Frustration turns to hostility.
You need to respect each other's space, and come together on common ground. Absinthe ..oops, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

This is not a thread about women in the martial arts and me not wanting to work with them. This is about how our women(mine anyway) have kept us from the martial arts. I was doing martial arts three nights a week(I have no kids) and she would used to complain, "You are going to class again? Do you like beating up people and getting beat up? It is kind of immature. This is where I made my mistake. I used logic. Well, after a while I was able to sort of lean back away from that and she was pretty much good with it. No more of her bull sH it. A woman will be the boss if you let her be, and a woman boss is relentless and brutal. She will work your a$$ off and use you like a toll of toilet paper. The fact is, they want to live their life, but want to live yours too. You can not let that happen. There is no here after and this is all you get. I feel lucky that my wife is how she is. We have been married five years and together eight, and during that time we have had many trials and tribulations and times where we almost called it quits, but we didn't.

But the key for us is that we have our lives together as well as our individual lives. She knows after work through the week I will be working out for a good bit of the evening. I know she will go shopping or out with her friends and do what she enjoys. We spend time together and do things on the weekends.

This is not a thread about women in the martial arts and me not wanting to work with them. This is about how our women(mine anyway) have kept us from the martial arts. I was doing martial arts three nights a week(I have no kids) and she would used to complain, "You are going to class again? Do you like beating up people and getting beat up? It is kind of immature. We never spend time together anymore."

This is where I made my mistake. I used logic. I pulled out a calendar and marked down the days and times we spent together and I thought, and hoped, that the sheer power of the information would blast her to reality. The reality was that we spend SO MUCH time together that I barely had time for martial arts let alone anything else.

My logic and evidence did not cow her at all actually. It enraged her even more.

Anyway, do any of the guys(and gals too) find similar situations happening in their homes?
