I was going to choose broad sword, b/c you may use the back or not blade side, not to hurt your opponent.

it will be difficult with the straight sword due to blades on the both sides

if you are good enough, you may use the body of the sword to hit and not to hurt your opponent

my point is that with naked sharps, we have to be extra careful.

we may always use a rubber or wooden sword with no sharp edges

or covering shields to dullify the sharp edges

safety first in choosing weapon

not to hurt yourself and the training partner
