I've literally just seen this promotion on Facebook and was wondering if any of you guys have had anything to do with the magazines development?

Great news Spencer and thanks for posting. I was pleasantly surprised. It will be great to see a specialist, single style magazine that deals only with Wing Chun matters, and I hope that it will be a high quality publication in the same vein as that other great specialist, single style publication, the Shotokan Karate Magazine, which believe it or not, I enjoy reading very much (due to its high quality articles), together with our own Kung fu Magazine.

It will be great for WC people to come together and explore the richness of this style, helping them to find answers they are looking for within the vast arsenal of techniques AND wisdom, that is Wing Chun.:)

I have even informed a few kung fu brothers of this, including the one who you may have met in London, who is currently living a block away from me. Sifu will be informed very soon. :)

It's a shame that most here don't share your enthusiasm, especially since the main writer/editor Eric Lilleør seems to be from the LT & WSL Family. Obviously very well known in Europe, so perhaps that's the drawback here :(

"ABOUT THE MAGAZINE

“Wing Chun Illustrated” is a new, professionally-made magazine dedicated to Wing Chun practitioners of ALL lineages.

It’s an independent publication published by Eric Lilleør (Wong Shun Leung lineage), who has 12 years of hard-earned experience in magazine publishing.

The magazine’s Advisory Board and staff writers are among some of the most respected instructors in the Wing Chun community today. Readers can expect exclusive content that is both genuinely informative and incisive, and a magazine that aims to make use of the new technologies that are available for the digital format.

“Wing Chun Illustrated” will be published bi-monthly. Each issue will be 56 full-colour pages. The magazine will be available in DIGITAL and PRINT-ON-DEMAND (POD) formats.

The digital edition will be on sale via Apple’s App Store. It will be available on the following mobile devices: iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Android, Blackberry, and Nokia OVI platforms will also be available at a later date. Also in the works is a Web Reader and integration into social networking sites such as Facebook. Single issues, subscriptions, and back issues will be available via Apple’s App Store.

Single issues will likewise be on sale as print-on-demand (POD) via MagCloud.com. The price for digital and print editions will be announced closer to the launch date. Clearly, the cost for a print issue will be higher than that of a digital edition.

The premiere issue of “Wing Chun Illustrated” will be on sale Q1, 2011.

ABOUT THE PUBLISHER/EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Eric Lilleør is currently based in Odense, Denmark. He has been involved in magazine publishing since 1998.

From 1998-2004, he was the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of “ScreenTalk”—an 80-page magazine for film and TV scriptwriters. Within a year of its launch, “ScreenTalk” secured distribution throughout the entire US and Canada (Barnes & Noble, Borders, Walden Books, Hastings, Independents, Super Stand and others), and in selected stores in the UK, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Eric ended up selling “ScreenTalk” to a US publisher.

In 2006, a London-based publisher hired Eric to develop the vision and concept of what became “movieScope”. The magazine focused on all aspects of the film process, combined with contributions from professional filmmakers and exclusive interviews with some of the world’s most respected filmmakers in front of and behind the camera. Eric headed “movieScope” as Editor-in-Chief for 3 years.

Eric Lilleør is one of the pioneers of the Wing Tsun lineage in Denmark. He started his martial arts training in 1978 and became a student of Sifu Keith R. Kernspecht in 1984.

Fast forward to today, and Eric is now a proud and devoted Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun practitioner under the guidance of his old Wing Tsun student and friend Sifu Morten Ibsen (Founder and Chief Instructor of The Danish Ving Tsun Federation: www.dvtfederation.com).

Kjartan Kragh Ohmsen is a self-made designer from Copenhagen with a wide design background. He’s been art directing and the producer on various magazines, websites, corporate identities, user interfaces, industrial design projects (mostly interiors and furniture), 3D modelling and compositing, documentaries, music and instructional videos. Kjartan is also a former press- and studio photographer with an impressive client list."

In my understanding of the magazine, many lineages are represented, not just WSL.

David Peterson, Alan Gibson, Andreas Hoffmann, Wayne Belonoha, Lamar M. Davis II, Eric Oram, and myself are included in this project, thus far.

There was Ray Van Raamsdonk's old Wing Chun Viewpoint a while back which was an attempt at the same type of thing. I think its good for the WCK community as a whole.

I don't understand your point jesper :confused: I never meant what I said as a dig at WSL at all, more of a common denominator as there are a lot of WSL family guys who post here! And the fact that the guy is from Europe and most guys on here are from the States may be a reason that nobody had posted their support (?)

I personally couldn't care less for the history of the Editor, as long as the objective is united. It is time for a dedicated Wing Chun magazine IMHO. :)

I say Amen to that. It is time for all the genuine lineages to unite, support and learn from each other, and investigate the rich art of Wing Chun, in all of its dimensions. This way we can all add to our individual perspectives and grow.

A magazine such as this is what the doctor ordered, and perhaps in the future they could also print and publish it, as well.

This is a separate publication than Wing Chun Magazine (formerly Wing Chun Teahouse). I'm exciting about it. Hope it isn't too expensive for print editions.
