A link to a video (http://cookdingskitchen.blogspot.com/2010/04/sanchin-kata-comparision.html) of a meeting of several karate masters as well as a kung fu master all performing their own style's version of sanchin. I don't know what is more interesting, the "family resemblance" of the distinct differences.

An old karate adage - 1000 people - 1000 sanchin.

True and the way it should be.

Uechi Ryu Sanchin was the first form I learned and I still work it weekly.

It is still paying me dividends.

Not sure what you mean...
When the okinawans modified sanchin they did it to cater to their needs, something the chinese did and why we have many versions of "sam chien" ( or any of the many other spelling verison there are).
The ****ien white crane samjian has a few variations in of itself.
The five ancestors has a few also, as do the various systems of SPM and so forth and so on.

Modifying something to prioritize one thing or another is not "fixing something that is broken (or not)", it is tailoring it to meet a specific need.

Well, gauging from the arts that arose from Okinawan sources that do sanchin "that way", that may not be a a bad thing, LOL !

Okinawan Karate IS Chinese secret sauce.

3 battles is a good set for anyone to practice.

but only if the chinese gave them ALL of the secrets then it would be ever more deadly!

its amusing to given that kung fu was exported to okinawa before the time of its *******ization in china., given that some of it has probably kept closer to the "authentic" chinese fighting arts than what alot of people practice today and claim to be the holy untainted uber kung fu.
