Nice vid. What is the name of the technique at 0:42 - 0:45 seconds? We have that technique in a few of our forms as well.

It's called Sow Geuk (sweep) followed by a sow choy.

Frank, with the goods (as usual).

That footage of Lun Chee is some rare stuff. How did you get a hold of it? (you can PM me if u want).

Also that of Lau Bun is so rare, but I saw your other thread about it.

Take care like always.

Good to see Sifu Li Iu-Ling doing a fast and nimble left and right Ngau-Dat-Sow-Tan (Hook Sweep with a Dat Ceoi followed by a Sow Ceoi with Tan Tui) 4 in 1 combination. Must be just before he passed away at 91 years old, not bad for that age!

Yeah, sure. But there's more than just him on that video. actually i liked seeing Ho Ngau, and Lau Bun though. Hu Yuen Chou was also nice too. in fact, they were all good to see as they are no longer with us.

Yeah, good to see CLF kept these oldies young and they all looked good.

I just want to say what Sifu Li did at 0:42 - 0:45 seconds was more than just "Sow Geuk (sweep) followed by a sow choy", it was a 4 in 1 and one of Chan Yiu-Chi favorite combinations. It was not a Sow Geuk, it was a Ngou Tui, a hook sweep going up with a Dat Ceoi strike coming down at the same time, going the opposite directions.

Please don't take this as a criticism, Frank, I just want to clarify, I learned this combination since I was a kid.

Hay hsk

Thanks for posting this interesting video. It's great to see some old timers doing what they did best.

Question, when is your book coming out?

XJ:

When we do our sweeps we always do it with the hand going in the opposite direction (low one direction and high in the opposite direction). I thought that was the only way to do it to be honest. :D

Peace out.

VOR,

I'm still working on it. i have other things that take precedence in my life at the moment.

We've always done our sweeps with the arm swinging downwards as the leg completes the scissor motion. that way a follow up sow choy with a reverse sweep is possible.
