This is an interesting take on the "importance" of major sports events in the lives of Americans and by extension, other Westerners.

I had also heard before that the Romans used major sports/Gladiatorial events as a way of keeping the public mind occupied and away from the more relevant events that would be effecting their lives much more than the meaningless combat events they were hooked on.

It seems that the same policy continues in modern day America (and other countries):

You misunderstand. I did mention the Romans didn't I? The concept of dumbing down the population (through sports, religion, etc.) is not a new one, even if nowadays, the tactics are more sophisticated......

I believe that Alex Jones makes many valid points in the video clip. I hope that you appreciate what he is saying. That is, if you bothered to watch the whole thing....

what? you didnt learn that in grade 8 western civ??? i guess canadians learn more about the world in school huh;)

its understandable tho, i mean yall spend 4 years talking about yourselves, who has time for the rest of the world...

entertainment provided to the proletariat by the elite has always been a deflective technique... since the first king put on a play for his people...

seriously, wtf did you learn in school??? highschool is where i first learned of the globalists, not alex jones lol...

Sport is a global conspiracy? What?

You missed the point. It is not about sport being bad or good.

It is about the use of sporting (and other) activities to create a mass frenzy, or cult like fanaticism, that takes public attention away from the fact that they are being screwed, day in and day out, by their governments and the banking/corporate cartels that own those very governments!

Oh, and this has been going on since at least the Roman times......

Hardwork108

So, the people who have a cult-like fanaticism towards thinking that every group is either in control or being controlled are actually being controlled into thinking so?
If you are referring to me, then let me clarify. Those in control are not "every group". Climb the pyramid of the banking/corporate cartels, then you will see who they are!

As far as the rest of the world is controlled then there are those who are controlled and others who control. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

That's some interesting circular reasoning. How does this tie in to illegal gambling, especially considering the fact that bookies operate outside of conventional government rules and oversight? Are you suggesting the criminal underworld are all freedom fighters?

I think you are confused. Who mentioned illegal gambling? However, now that you mention it, then I could hazard a guess that the "government" may have their hands in it too, at some level at least. Just like they do, in the illegal drugs trade. Or perhaps they let it all go by until the "players" become big fish, and then they send the police to swoop down and "confiscate" their assets?

Your criticism towards the Romans suggests you are against the subsidization of food and therefore against feeding the poor. Why?

Seriously, have you been drinking?

Look, this is a fact that I have known since almost childhood, that is, I have known that all the entertainment thrown our way by the corporations and/or governments are a means of keeping the public mind busy and occupied, in order to isolate them from the truth of their condition.

Call it a "conspiracy" theory if you like, but if you do, then it will show your own small box thinking, which in turn is a result of your own education (and partial indoctrination) as regards the reality that you, yourself perceive.

naw... you need to step back and look at it all for what it is...

lets use alex jones as an example... in his own words his story goes like this:
nutshell...

he grew up happy republican... when campaigning for ron paul people sent him info... he looked into the info and found out it was true... he learned about the rockafellers speeches in the UN and the globalist agenda that has been out in the open for a long time...
if you grow up a proud patriotic american then find out that what youve learned in school about your own country is bullsh1t... and you spend way too much time on america and very little time studying the rest of the world... so to learn this globalist agenda would be horrifying for an american patriot who believed in mom and apple pie...

well, outside of the american bubble is where the rest of the world resides... and the globalist agenda is required reading for young canadians... i first learned about it in like 1990 in highschool social studies class...
in canada we dont spend four years doing a "we are the bestest ever" circle jerk... we learn about the world... novel idea, i know...

i cant speak for the rest of the canadians here, especially since they are all from ontario... i live very far from ontario and we are much different in alot of ways... so im not sure what they learned in school, but it wouldnt surprised me if guys like DJ SR and X3M4 could say they had the same experience in school... when we studied the UN we were taught about the globalist agenda and got to read thru alot of those speeches from the 70's and such...

so, Hdub, ive never said what i think, in general... ive only taken stance on a few issues here, like guns and abortion... but you continue to assume i dont know anything about any of this cause i diss alex jones and argue with you...
what you need to understand is that, from my point of view, none of what you say is new or provocative... its old news... it just doesnt surprise me or get me riled like it would for an old patriot who felt betrayed by their nation... in canada we are a very progressive socialist country, we all learned all of this at a young age... especially in BC, we've had alot of NDP leaders...

in canada we have three major parties... conservatives, liberals and new democrats... NDP is real left, not fake american democrat left but REAL left... the libs are more of a center party... they are conservative in some ways, liberal in others... but they arent left... although in the US one may see them as left, but thats because even your national left party from a global perspective is right of center...

Agreed. Your earlier suggestion remains valid as well: Conspiracy theorists are gripped by

and are therefore victims of behavioural manipulation.

Very true, but I am NOT a Conspiracy "Theorist". It is very pompous and rude of you to classify people who know things that you don't, as "theorists", which actually makes YOU the theorist!

Crime is a global conspiracy? What?
Crime is NOT a global conspiracy. However, there are "government" leaders and agencies, involved in global crimes, such as mass murder, thievery and the drugs trade. Surely you understand the distinction....

You must think all art is propaganda?

I did not say that. However, in the right hands anything can be used as a propaganda tool. These are simple facts and the fact that you do not see the point I am making may add more credence to what I am saying.....

What's the secret agenda behind Star Trek?
Star Trek????

Actually, now that you mention it then perhaps one can on one level associate the united planet earth aspect with the "united" planet as in the NWO agenda. Also, the "we come in peace" line is a reflexion of the official propaganda whenever the US and the UK stick their noses into another country's affairs, which as even you may well know, many times result in social injustice, war and mass murder in that given country.....

Well, you criticized Roman methods such as Circuses so I naturally assumed you were against soup kitchens, feeding the poor and subsidizing food.

There are "soup kitchens" today as well in the same countries that are screwing the life out of their own citizens, through wars, extortionate taxation/fines, increasing intrusions into daily affairs, and legislative restrictions on their freedoms. All this happening while local governmental powers are being Federalized and then INTERNATIONALIZED away from the American people....

The fact that you are living through this, but cannot see what is happening, proves my point further. Or is it the case of "the government does what it does because with goodness in their hearts, they are trying to protect me from invisible terrorits hiding in caves, and also from the now acknowledged, none existant Global Warming threat" ??????

Is it a case of the "world uniting to combat all the nasty international threats, such as Global Wariming:rolleyes:, Terrorist Threat:rolleyes:, Epidemics, etc." ?

Suffice to say, that an appearance of "civilized" behavior has to be maitained. This may include social services and respect for certain citizen's rights (some of which are being eroded as we speak, as the NWO agenda speeds up). Otherwise the citizens may wake up and hang the powers that be from nearest tree.....

You are upset, but that is understandable as you are discussing a subject about which you only possess some superficial implanted ideas, with someone with an infinitely higher level of intelligence than yourself, at least regarding the subject we are discussing.

The only suggestion I can make to you is to think outside of the box, open your eyes and see the reality of the world that you live in.

Well, I did my good deed for the day. Lets see what comes out of it. :)

Wait, which part is the good deed:

- Dissing Syn7's depth of thought

- Proclaiming intellectual superiority over him through the use of hyperbolic statements instead of balanced and rational discussion

- The clichés

?

The post in question was directed at you. As for Syn7, he is kind of busy scratching his brain.:D

Perhaps you should scratch your own brain, so as to activate some of your "above 8th grade" neurons....;)

If that post was directed at me, then your post should have made that clear.

You quoted Syn7 and then posted as though speaking to him. There's not a single part of your post which suggests it was directed at me.
You are right. My mistake in not being clear. Ok, that post was directed at all Canadians who have completed their 8th grade to Highschool education. :D
