It's a well known fact that the Hung Mun had a major influence over the gung fu schools of southern China during the 1800's, especially Fut San. From bows, body postures and hand signals to floor patterns certain elements of the Hung Mun can be found all over Jeung Hung Sing's Hung Sing Kuen (Hung Sing Choy Lee Fut).

The following video demonstrates certain elements like the Heaven, Earth and Man bow and the pattern of the Hung Sing Hoi Jong and how it relates to the Hung Society. Inside you will see things like the Chinese radical for water and a right angle square and how it superimposes over the actual Hung 洪 character.

氵 = Heaven Earth and Man
┐ = Hoi Jong pattern

From the point of view of writing I don't see the relationship but just an interpretation. As for hung character or gong the strokes are in different sequence. You may check the dictionary Kanxi to see how that relates to your interpretation.

maybe you missed the point. that's ok. you seem to be the only Hung Kuen guy to miss the connection. but its there.

Hskwarrior - I'm able to see the connection. Some people like to point out the radical marks go on top of the hung symbol yet your video is talking about the opening motions of your forms. I for one find that very interesting. Great work, keep it up.

Looking forward to seeing more vid's.

Mig, if you are talking about the water radical being on top of the Hung character, that’s nothing new.

The interpretation of the hoi jong pattern and the Heaven, Earth and Man salute is what I’m talking for my lineage. Now, even if i were to place the water radical on top of the hung character, the hoi jong pattern would still be the same and will include the Heaven Earth and Man element.

Sorry you can’t see it.

The image below of the Hung character in the middle of the triangle is the symbol used exclusively by the Green Grass Monk and the lodge he founded. No other Hung Mun founder can use this symbol as they have their own with different geometrical shapes. This is purely used by the Green Grass Monk.

As you will notice in the authentic Hung Mun image you see below that it too contains the triangle with the Hung character in the middle. You will notice that the water radical is to the left and not on top.

NO, it's not an actual word but a reconfiguration of the character to disguise its appearance. Hung Mun was all about hiding things in plain sight. The Hung Surname is what is really used. All five Hung Mun ancestors have CHOPS with secret symbols and specific designs attached to them. but we still use the Hung surname all the time as you see in this picture below (the five lions and five different colors represent the Five Ancestors.
