Just want to say, GM Doc Fai Wong has to be the best teacher I have ever had, despite the distance. He's enormously patient and an all-around good guy, though he has no problem telling it like it is. His training goes beyond CLF, and he is as much of a mentor with life in general as he is a mentor in CLF.

And hey, while we're at it, let's just make this thread a place where we credit our teachers for helping us not only with MA, but also in helping us figure out our other crap that complicates our lives. Anyone else have someone to thank?

My sifu was always more of a father figure to me, much more than just my sifu. He is the person who taught me the simple things like changing spark plugs and other auto related things. He was there when my younger brother got hit by a car and i almost snapped. He's responsible for leading me from destruction and turning my into a teacher.

We've had our ups and downs in the past. I attribute it to growing pains. Today in my life as well as my martial path it is my sifu who gets all the credit. He always said a teacher is much more than a teacher when it comes to his students.

He's had more influence over me than any other person i've ever known. I do and honestly thank him for everything. His thinking and methods live within me as i pass them down to my own students.

Thank you sifu!!!!!

I had lunch with him two days ago. It was great to see him. He got me started in the martial arts business with his company. He has always been supportive of my work and was totally understanding when I took my disciple vows under Shi Decheng (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44742). I'm close to Decheng too, but we don't speak the same language beyond kung fu, and he's always traveling about or in China, so there isn't the same kind of bond. Wing Lam gave me a lot of freedom, especially as a traditional master, and that's always kept me loyal to him.

It's been quite a journey for both of us.
