One video says that is a combo personal set consisting of tong long and ying jow.

Shek Kin said he was a lost track boxing guy or my jong lohan.

that set i think is his own. I could be wrong though.

I met him in San Feancisco on the Brendan Lai's 1980 Kung Fu demo stage. He was a friendly guy. I believe he was from the Chin Woo school. He lived at his age of 96. That's very impressive.

Thanks for posting that.
I have never seen Shek do the form, though I knew he made it up when it was taught to us.
The form is called Won Hop Kuen (cantonese) not even sure what it means.
As I recall, they said that it was a combination of 5 styles (might be wrong on the number), but it definelty looks like a lot of Mantis and longfist.

I learned it in the '80s by a visiting shifu at the Wah Lum temple, trying to remember that teachers name, famous for his CHoy Li Fut.
I went to visit him in HK in 1989 and he went over the form with me again, he told me that he was moving to AMerica. Shortly after moving to the states he passed away.

Tainan: You must have learned it from my sifu Lee Koon Hung.

Shek Kin taught this form and some others to my sifu and some of the sets (most weapons and 2-man weapon) have been incorporated into our curiculum.

That set is Wun Hop Kuen, which kind of translates to "mixed fist".

Shek Kin had several different teachers and learned styles such as tong long, law horn mun, siu lum mun, ying jow, shui jiao and another which name always escapes me.

The set you see is primarily ying jow and tong long with some other stuff mixed in as well.

Peace

Yes, thanks. It was Lee Koon Hung.
I'll never forget when he showed it to us. I was amazed by his performance.
I felt lucky to see him later in HK before he moved to the states.

I was at that event! I didn't meet Shek Kin but got to see his demo. Wasn't that the show where some Kuk Sul Won master kicked the snot out of his board holder when trying to do a break?

If you want to learn the form you would have to pay for some type of private class as it is not a form taught in our curriculum. Either that or watch the youtube video a lot. :D

CLF Nole,

Glad you mention Lohan is also in that set as I thought I recognized BSL Lohan in it too. The rolling punches with the sliding steps is from BSL Lohan number 2.

Northern Shaolin:

I would defer to you on this as you likely know more about Shek Kin that I do. I choose to learn the weapon sets he passed on to my sifu but not the hand form so I really don't know that much about it other that what I was told. It is not that I don't like the set but I have always tried to just do CLF hands as I don't like to learn other styles hand sets because the power, flow and style differs from style to style and I don't like the look like a CLF guy doing mantis, eagle claw or law horn. Weapons bounce from style to style so no problem there.

I really enjoy watching the northern stuff but as you know power generation, flow and feel are different.

Peace.

gwert2020: I am sorry we don't have a video for this form and really don't teach it openly.

Greetings,

There is an English version of that magazine that you got the article from. it is called "Real Kung Fu". Though translated in English, sometimes they don't give the full article; so, keep that article until you can have someone translate it.

Don't remember the board breaking demo. The highlight of that demo was Qi master 刘木森(Liu Mu Sen) used his Qi to send people to fly in 6 different directions. I tried to be one of the Qi receivers but Brendan Lai stopped me from doing that. I also remember a "snake" style guy (we share the same hotel room). Adam Hsu was also there too.

Maybe this picture can bring back some memory.

My bad. I was thinking of a different event. I recognize that stage set up from the photo you linked, but that wasn't the one I was remembering. I don't think I was at that one, but I think I've seen video of it.
