If you could only excel in one area, which would it be?
I'd choose balance.

i would rather be a bear.
kind of tricky question
I would choose balance or sensitivity
sensing our own power and balance
sensing the opponent's power and balance
we then move to our advantage by steps and postures/hand/body movements
we unbalance the opponent's power without losing our own balance.
actually, we may have to be unbalance ourself first in order to end with balance.

oooh. I like that. Something to think about. Already envisioning pushing hard to receive a push for a pull or throw.

Power....assuming I don't fall down when I try to walk and can still feel the hot stove. I think the reason I choose that is because I excel in balance more than power I always want more power than I have but I have always been pleased with my balance

real martial artists have it all.
Like this bear:

bear rules the mountain
shark rules the sea
one has mighty hug and claws
the other has mighty jaw and teeth
human has no claws and no giant jaw/teeth

yes, power comes with genetic or your physical attributes, such as bear back and shark jaw
we may persue and increase our power but only to a certain extent or that our body/anatomy allows

all we need to do is color the bear fur black, and it become unstoppable black bear.
brown bears are very adaptable
they pick and eat berries
they hunt/fish and eat salmons
polar bears are cousins of brown bears
but polar cousins only dig and eat seals---
the versatile and adaptable are better--

It is black, he's just been a little bleached from riding the shark across the ocean in the blazing sun, killing indiscriminately of course whilst in transit.
It'll go back to black after a short while ashore. That's how it goes with the most bestest black bear.

Personally, I think too much emphasis is put on power. Its not a matter of hitting harder. Most punching could do the job.... the question is can you hit!
Sensitivity is very important. But if you make connection and read data but lose your balance its pointless. Without balance you can not deliver a blow with connectivity.
Balance's cousin, movement, is also very important. To maintain balance while in contact, receiving resistance.

Agree! To have 50 lb force on the nose will have similiar effect as to have 100 lb force on the nose.

That is true for whales...but killer wales are actually dolphins which is why they're so smart. They kill Great Whites and other whales.
I'd choose to have a good combination of all 3 skills. Back to the wing chun forum for me.
