I've been working on papers about the Bakken formation for a couple of years. The oil is deep and it's in sandstone, which causes a lot of production problems, especially when they start fracking to create channels for the oil to flow to the main drillsite. But there is a ton of it there.

If the powers that be, focused their technologies towards developments that helped human beings, instead of on weapons to kill and maim them, then perhaps we would not have such problems.
