I know that getting all "icky" about spiders is almost as cliche as boldly claiming how awesomely unique you are because you LIKE spiders, but I'm throwing this out there:

Hell, the caterpillars at the bottom creep me out more than the spiders.

Oh, and GET THEM OFF ME!!

I am not really fond of spiders myself, but catapillers are really nasty sometimes. We have this little yellowish white fuzzy catapiller that we call an Asp. It is also called the puss moth catapiller. Under the thick fuzzy cover it has really sharp, stiff hairs that are hollow and can actually secret a venom. A buddy had one on his sleeve, and he had never seen one. He just brushed him off and was instantly in such pain that he almost passed out. After about 4 hours of the pain not subsiding, but rather getting worse, he went to emergency at the hospital.

spiders are my nemesis. it is battle to the death for ever more. death to all arachnids! i have a spider sense. but instead of getting tingly lines above my head, i instantly can spot any spider within my visual line. I am the destroyer of spiders.

I'm not a fan of arachnids, in general. I used to be DEATHLY afraid of spiders, but after spending so much more time outside the last few years(yeah, I was sheltered aight!?) i've gotten to the point where I can tolerate them.

I'd rather put up with a scorpion than a spider.

TICKS, I just find disgusting. They actually bury their little heads inside of you and siphon blood from your body. It is just disturbing. That said, i'd still take the ticks over spiders.

spiders are my nemesis...I am the destroyer of spiders.

That was me when I was living in one place that was infested. I had always disliked spiders, but the dislike manifested itself in avoidance. When I ended up in a room with walls that were adorned with at least 10 spiders a day, though, I went on the offensive. After a while of killing them as they came, I became so annoyed that I started to actively hunt them down.

Of course, now that I know they huddle up and conspire together, I may go back to avoidance.

Chinese Customs Nab a Package Containing 87 Spiders Sent from Germany (https://thenanfang.com/smuggled-live-spiders-seized-chinese-customs/)
87 live theraphosidae and venomous sand spiders

Charles Liu, April 29, 2016 11:27am

Zhejiang customs have seized 90 live spiders from parcels mailed from Germany.

Exactly 81 Theraphosidae spiders and six sand spiders were mailed in boxes with labels saying “materials for study and research”. Customs officials believe the spiders were to be sold as pets.

Interestingly, Xinhua’s coverage of the story has made the seizure an issue of public safety, referring to Theraphosidae spiders as “aggressive and toxic”. However, Theraphosidae are in fact a family of spiders consisting of over 900 different species, including tarantulas, the vast majority of which pose no threat to humans.

Additionally, although Xinhua says the six-eyed sand spider is “among the world’s most virulent animals”, there has never been a proven case of a human being bitten by its extremely poisonous bite.

Importing live animals to China via luggage or mail is illegal, but that certainly hasn’t stopped people from trying. In September 2014, Wenzhou postal authorities discovered 22 live spiders in parcels mailed from Hungary. And in November 2007, Chinese customs said they seized and destroyed 100 Chinese bird tarantulas mailed from Thailand.

DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU'RE AFRAID OF SPIDERS

This colossal spider is your friend – really!

“Charlotte”

If you’re going to Queensland, Australia, or have friends or family thereabouts, you may want to give them the heads up that Huntsman spider “Charlotte” of Barnyard Betty’s Rescue, a farm animal sanctuary (posing on the broom above and right), is really their friend. Or, at the least, friendly.

http://www.wnd.com/files/2016/11/11-8-16-Huntsman-spider.jpg

“This big lady showed up at Barnyard Betty’s Rescue,” according to the Huffington Post, “about a year ago. Due to the mysteries of the internet, the images started going viral this week, and the sanctuary posted on Facebook to reassure (or perhaps the opposite of that?) the public that the images were not photo-shopped.”

“She was a beautiful, calm spider,” according to Barnyard Betty, who subsequently released Charlotte on the farm. “Not aggressive in any way and like most spiders she just wanted to go about her business eating bugs and living in peace. She didn’t or doesn’t need to be killed! Poor spiders are so misunderstood!”

Thrillist.com says, “The Australian Museum lists huntsman spiders as having an average body length of two centimeters. Graham Milledge, an arachnologist at the Australian Museum, told Mashable that this spider is a little different than the standard huntsman. “The spider in the photo appears to be a Giant Green Huntsman Spider, Typostola barbata,” he said. “This is one of the larger species of huntsman spider found in Australia, with a leg span of over 20cm (7.8 inches), and is mainly found in eastern Queensland.”

My first year in Taiwan, I saw a big Taiwan house spider, about as big around as my hand, dart under my bed with lightning speed. I left it alone, as I was told they go after ****roaches, which are a BIG problem in Taiwan, especially during the warm/hot, humid months (of which there are many). I'm not afraid of too many things, but I have a phobia of ****roaches, especially the type that fly at you. I never got bitten, and I never saw that spider again.
