Not a fighting app, an app for iPhone or iPod.

Apple News | Sun Moon Foot Tai Chi HR Released (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=6777)
Monday, 21st December 2009, 06:12 am

Happy, Healthy, New Year. D1Bru has announced Sun Moon Foot Tai Chi HR, the Healing Round, an update to their very popular mind-body exercise application for iPhone and iPod touch devices. Dynamic mind-body exercises improve wellness at all ages. Make a New Year's resolution to take a personal interest in sustainable healthcare reform.

Tai Chi effectively develops the balance and motor mechanisms in the body, however it is different from most mind-body exercises (like yoga) because it adds bodies in motion. Watching demonstrations of this art form are instructive but, often biomechanical requirements are difficult to discern. Even in slow motion, it can be challenging to identify key transitions in movement.

SMF Tai Chi HR helps solve the problem by pinpointing the orientational relationship between key body parts in a format that is easy to follow. Users will immediately understand balance by watching how to position and strengthen key anatomical elements. Designed specifically to take advantage of the iPhone's unique capabilities and touch interface, Sun Moon Foot Tai Chi reveals how to maximize the body's stability while in motion and presents a unique visual perspective that makes practice more productive.

Stability, power, speed and finesse are attained by controlling the momentum generated by the body's center of gravity as it moves through space. And like many sports, Tai Chi uses the core muscles to power and direct the limbs. Sun Moon Foot Tai Chi's animations illustrate this technique of propulsion by showing how the movement of the hips affect the weighting of the legs and positioning of the feet.

Each movement is broken-down into sequential segments with the waypoints of stability clearly identified. The 3D figures emphasize the anatomical alignment of the skeleton for each waypoint. The 2D aerial view highlights the flow of momentum and force from the body's center to the feet. Sun Moon Foot provides both a static and dynamic choreology of Tai Chi to help develop a new pattern for movement that is both agile and robust.

Feature Highlights:
* Comfortable and simple User Interface
* 76 animated transitions
* 17 positions
* 146 movement of the hips and feet

"I started using Tai Chi about 15 years ago to rebuild and nourish my body. I grew up in the shadow of Mt Hood running and playing in the Cascades," said Don Brubaker, founder of Florida based D1Bru. "I have always loved to race but it started taking a toll on my body during my senior seasons in college. Since settling in Florida, I found my racing fix in Triathlons. It is a thrill to exit the ocean in one piece. I believe Tai Chi improves my mental racing skills and helps me recover from the physical punishment of competition. Over the past several years my time racing has been decreasing and my involvement teaching Tai Chi increasing. Both activities allow me to clear my mind and have fun with good people."

"I am a software architect by trade. Back in 2002 I tried putting together a Tai Chi piece on an early smartphone, but no go. There just was not enough juice in the device." Don continues. "Time marched on and my 2002 sketchbook collected dust on the shelf. Shortly after starting D1Bru Vision Brewery, the iPhone opened up to developers. I decided to change my firm's course and enter the iPhone market. I wanted to add an in-house product, so I pulled down the 2002 sketchbook; this time it worked."

SMF Tai Chi's choreology illustrates proper control of the body's center of gravity. Sun Moon Foot derives its exercises from the Yang Short Form adapted by Grandmaster Cheng Man-ch'ing in the middle third of the last century. Perceive and move well to be in good stead for any situation.

Pricing and Availability:
SMF Tai Chi HR 1.0.1477 is $4.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Healthcare & Fitness category. Review copies are available upon request.

If you're more of a do-it-yourselfer rather than a sit on the coucher, and your doing involves some form of martial arts, chances are your mobile device can help with your studying and your practicing Most martial arts require students to learn patterns in order to earn their next belt. So for students themselves or for parents who'd like to maybe lend a hand helping their kids practice at home there are dozens and dozens of apps for all disciplines like iTaekwondo for $2.99 for iPhones which show you step by step videos of the patterns and the self defense moves. You'll also find the foreign vocabulary words, often required knowledge at tests as well. And for martial arts like Kendo, where students learn how to wield a sword, or more likely a large bamboo stick for practice, apps like the 99 cent Kakari Keiko for iPhones and Androids allows you to practice by using your phone as that stick. You see the target and perform the proper swing in order to hit it. The advice when looking for an app that fits your particular discipline, make sure to know the style your school teaches. For example, in Taekwondo there's World Taekwondo and International Taekwondo, the patterns and requirements differ for each.

Marine Corps Martial Arts Program for your android.

‘Semper Fu’ app teaches Marines martial arts (http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/2012/04/marine-semper-fu-android-app-teaches-marines-martial-arts-041012w/)
By Gina Harkins - Staff writer
Posted : Tuesday Apr 10, 2012 9:31:55 EDT

Are you wondering how to properly counter a round kick? There’s an app for that. An Android smartphone application released March 18 allows users to access detailed and illustrative instructions from the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program. It includes lessons in how to gouge an enemy’s eyes, defend yourself in a knife fight or make an enemy lose consciousness in a blood choke.

And as of March 27, the app was being downloaded up to 1,800 times per day.

The app description calls it “Semper Fu” and states it’s great for fighting Taliban, al-Qaida, terrorists, Nazi fascists, communists, oppressive regime governments, dictators and participants in “The Hunger Games.”

How to get it

The app is free, but for now it’s only available on Android operating systems. It can be downloaded through Google Play or AppBrain.

Rob Zel is the 22-year-old lead app developer and founder of AppOpus in Sacramento, Calif. He finds documents online that are public domain and makes them into apps. When he came across Marine Corps Reference Publication 3-02B, he decided the MCMAP manual would be the perfect app.

“I was actually shocked when I found this content,” he said. “People don’t typically think of the Marines having a martial arts program. In most movies … it’s all guns and shooting. You don’t think there’s Bruce Lee-type stuff.”

The app uses the current MCMAP manual, which was last updated in November. The latest edition removed training techniques the Corps deemed too dangerous, such as “body hardening,” or repeated impacts to the body to increase pain tolerance, as well as the use of “live” blades during training.

First Lt. Scott Villiard, a spokesman for the Corps’ Martial Arts Center of Excellence in Quantico, Va., said that as of March 30, Marine officials were unable to comment on the app.

But former Sgt. George Lockhart, who was an instructor trainer at the MACE until last year, said the idea to turn the guide into an app is awesome.

“The more you get the word out about the program, the better,” Lockhart said. “I don’t see the downside. If you’re learning and seeing the technique, this could be a great refresher.”

The app is easier to search than a PDF, Zel said. Marines could use a text-to-speech capability that allows them to listen to the guide, rather than read it.

Apps like this can be a good tool, but they can’t replace true instruction, said Lockhart, who is pursuing a career in mixed martial arts.

Marines must learn the basics through proper training before they can make real use of an app, he said.

“When I get ready for a fight, I look at video of the guy I’m going against,” Lockhart said. “But if I’ve never fought before, and I just watch a video and try and learn it from scratch — that would be stupid.”

Though it’s only Droid-compatible for now, Zel said he plans to expand it to the iPhone.

“The younger generations are calling phones an extension of their bodies,” he said. “I don’t think you can say that about a computer because you can’t carry it everywhere. Now you’ve got this guide in your pocket forever.”

First off, don't multiple post in different forums
secondly, don't spam. If you want to let us know about a product then tell us something about it rather than it exists and you think it's good.
Thirdly, having seen the abomination that was William Cheung's WC streetfighting against other styles series, and his pant-wettingly funny anti-grappling vids, I think I'll pass.

VBulletin does offer something which we do plan to explore, but not until the dust settles on KFTC20 (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61402).

So why spam the rest of the forum with 7 other postings? And only in the waijia sub-forums? How very restrained
I've merged and deleted all of WCFighter's posts to this thread.

Wow, I guess I didn't need to go to China and train at Shaolin at all. I used to hate it when my Shaolin sensei threw me items and I had to break all of them.

App Profile

Introduction

Wing Chun is a Chinese martial art and a form of self-defense that uses both striking and grappling for specializing in real world, melee combat. The app is developed by Wing Chun expert martial artists and contains multiple high-quality instructional videos as well as explanations and demos. This app is free, but only holds a few lessons. To unlock all lessons you need to buy different apps, as the lessons are not available via in app purchases.

Learning Wing Chun, The Easy Way

Using instructional videos, it’s really easy to pick up Wing Chung in the comfort of your own home. You get two very quick demo videos but the how-to videos are slower and explain to you the use of a move in further detail. You also get an actual step-by-step delivery of the move.

The app is divided into three levels, but only a few of the level one lessons are available in this app. To purchase more lessons, you need to download a different app from the app store. For just level one lessons, you pay $4.99, but for the complete three levels your wallet will be $19.99 lighter.

High Quality Videos?

The App Store page promises high-quality videos. I haven’t found these in the free app. The videos were way too quick (the move was over before I even knew what was going on) and it’s being performed by two dudes in jeans. On top of it all, the videos were not HD and it looked like they were streamed from a YouTube channel. All in all, the first level one videos look quite unprofessional, though I might be completely wrong as I am no Wing Chun specialist.

The guy who does the actual level three videos, which you can sample in this app as well, does know a lot about this martial arts style and he does look pretty professional!

Tapinator's "Balance of the Shaolin" Becomes an Apple iOS Top 50 Application (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/tapinators-balance-of-the-shaolin-becomes-an-apple-ios-top-50-application-2014-07-09)

NEW YORK, July 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tapinator, Inc. TAPM +4.62% (otc pink:TAPM) is pleased to announce that its newly launched, pixel-style game, "Balance of the Shaolin" has been featured as a "Best New Game" on Apple's iOS platform. The game has reached the top 50 overall charts and is now the #45 top application on iPad. Within the top 50, "Balance of the Shaolin" joins numerous category leaders, including King's puzzle games "Candy Crush Saga" and "Bubble Witch 2 Saga," Supercell's simulation games "Clash of Clans" and "Hay Day," Glu's role playing game "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood," and Wargaming's action game "World of Tanks Blitz."

With the success of "Flappy Bird," Tapinator believes that a new gaming category is emerging: Rapid, Simple Games (RSG). This new category is characterized by simple, easy to learn, yet hard to master gameplay, that can be played in very quick segments of under 30 seconds. The Company believes that it is well positioned to become a market leader for RSG games.

"Balance of the Shaolin" is Tapinator's first title within this quickly evolving category. Tapinator CEO, Ilya Nikolayev, stated, "It is very exciting to see that our first initiative and launch into this new category has resulted in 'Balance of the Shaolin' being selected as a Best New Game by Apple. We see substantial opportunity to build the Shaolin into a valuable brand name."

Balance of the Shaolin is an epic adventure about our hero balancing his/her way to glory, aiming to become the next shaolin master. With awesome 2D pixel environments, the player balances our hero in the world's harshest places including on top of buildings, mountains, volcanoes, and moving trains. Simple to learn, yet hard to master, players train their balancing skills in 30 second segments and can then progress to our endless Remix mode. Balance of the Shaolin is currently available on Apple's iOS platform ( http://balanceoftheshaolin.com ) and is coming soon to Google Play and the Amazon App Store.
