A Boy And His Dog (1975) trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu9fESAlGc4)

Don't forget our May 21st: Rapture Zero Day thread (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1097497) (I post this here for archival purposes, to give this thread some context in the future).

A boy and his dog was a great flick!

also:

- Tank Girl
- Brazil
- Escape from New York
- Logan's Run
- The Matrix
- The Omega Man
- Planet of the Apes
- Sleeper
- V

(of course, some of these are dependent on what you think an apocalypse is. :) )

"the stand" they made it into a series on TV but I really didn't like it. The book was totally awesome.

I agree with the guy who said The Stand, but that the book was better.

The Book of Eli was a good movie.

He has great stories about the human capacity for primal cruelty.

I can't stand his prose style. He's far too thrilled with his own eloquent pretensions.

I also liked the Book of Eli. It's especially good if you're a Christian.

I have nothing but disdain for christianity, but I thought that was a cool twist.

Lets keep religion out of this gentlemen.

I like the Book of Eli also, Matrix was good, but 2 and 3 kind of lost it for me.
Not sure if Planet of the apes qualififes as Apocalyptic though...

Any of the resident evil ones work for me, Milla makes me drool...:D

I really liked The Postman with Kevin Costner.

It was underrated, if you ask me. Guess there weren't enough explosions and car chases for the general public.

I really liked The Postman with Kevin Costner.

Gotta admit, I didn't mind waterworld either.

Ahh, yeah, I forgot about that one. I thought it had a pretty cool story too.

I think I liked Children of Men when I saw it, but I haven't seen it since it came out.

I take great offense at this remark. . .

I'm not nor have I ever been a gentleman.

Oddly enough both of these films feature soulless ginger Julianne Moore.

I thought Eli had two redeeming qualities (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?p=983100#post983100).

I also loved the book I Am Legend, and thought the movie sucked. There have been other movies also based on the book (The Omega Man, etc.), but they've all been pretty bad by comparison. The Will Smith film sucked mainly because the sick people (which were originally vampires) were roaring animated cartoons that move like Spiderman.

My favorite post-apocalyptic movies include:

The Princess Blade (a Japanese film, fight-choreographed by Donnie Yen);

Akira (original, of course);

Versus;

Pulse (a.k.a., Kairo, the Japanese original, not the American remake);

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust;

*see a pattern here? Japanese cinema is full of post-apocalyptic themes.*

Dawn of the Dead (only the original);

Night of the Living Dead (also the original);

Escape from New York (extremely dated now, but still good);

The Matrix (only the first film; they should have stopped there).
