That's awesome for that kid! He's on the right track.

As for an adult martial artist.... that's what you should be doing! You don't get a cookie for pad work. Every single time you go to the gym you should be doing something like that AND free full resistance play, wether its just throws, ground fighting, boxing, kick boxing or all of them at once.
