Hi Guys,

I'd just like to say its great to see some sensibility and moderation now taking place in what is returning these forums to all they could and perhaps should be.

Moderation can often be a hard job, with heaps of criticism but very little understanding and thanks.

I'd just like to say thank you.

We no longer need to argue that

"Internal Qi is good, external muscle power is bad."

Hope someday, we don't have to argue that

"MMA is good, TCMA is bad."

If you are going to delete EVERY SINGLE "non constructive" post on the forum, you will have quite a lot of work for yourself

In fact, you'd have to delete about half of your own posts

If you only do it to ONE PERSON dearly you aren't fit to be a moderator

The good news is, I am not a newbie, I'm not going to be scared off so easily

Dave, I don't care how you feel or what you thing is or who you are or if you are scared of the internet or not. I really don't. Heck, I don't even like you as a person.

Having said all that, we don't need more churlish combative ass-hattery. So do your thing, make your posts and keep your skid mark comments to yourself or they will be deleted.

period. If you don't like it, you're welcome to not have the door hit you on the ass on your way out. You can take your veteran forum member trophy with you too.

Man up and lets clean it up here co-operatively if at all possible.

Feel free to delete those threads or comments I make in the OT forum that you find offensive, that is the area you undertook to mod and it is your thing to do so. I really don't care, it's an OT forum, it is where most of the garbage gets swept.

We have a list of keywords, GOOD

We have a bunch (five) of throws... those throws represent which keywords

What are they callled?

What you don't get was how quickly those thread spiraled into nonsense. they were closed, now they are removed. the thread was re-posted with the ask and John supplied the answer there.

If you are really really wanting to know, then you are certainly more than capable of directly contacting John Wang through PM or even through direct email or Facebook.

It's not as if that door has been forever closed and we are all the lesser for it.

Then, LATER, he asked which keywords those throws were

throw 1 is 挑(Tiao) - leg lift

http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=6337&d=1311264134
throw 2 is 手别(Shou Bei) - hand block

http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=6338&d=1311264145

throw 4 is 别(Bie) - leg block

http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=6340&d=1311264170
throw 5 is 撮(Cuo) - scooping kick

Those 30 key words are "butterfly hands" principles that's used in "clinching fight". Those are not throws.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tearing (SI), Cracking (BENG), Striking push (TONG), Hand pushing (TUN), Elbow pressing (ZHOU) 撕崩捅褪肘

Covering hands (GAI), Pulling hands (LUO), Body-shaking hands (YAO), Reverse arm-holding (DAO), Shaking (DOU) 蓋攞搖捯抖

Neck surrounding (HUAN), Chin pushing (TUO), Throat/waist blocking (FENG), Casting (SA), Floating hand (PIAO) 環托封撒飄

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In SC the throws are categoried into "4 sides and 2 doors". there are 62 different keywords (principles) for those throws. It comes up about 400 "major" throws. For example the "别(Bie) - leg block" principle by itself contains more than 30 different throws.

First, let me preface by stating that true moderation is a thankless task, so I appreciate DJ taking up the role, in theory; that said, in actuality, his tenure is already marked by ongoing bad blood w Ross; this is not an issue per se, provided he is able to put his personal issues aside an "be the change he wants to see"; to his credit, he appears to have done just that via his acknowledgement of my previous post vis a vis use of sarcasm, and I respect him for understanding my point; as a moderator, one needs must take the high road, as difficult as that may be; in that vein, both DJ and DR should call a permanent truce, otherwise it will be the forum in general that will suffer: let's all not forget the events o late that resulted in a new status quo before we all gripe too hard...

That said, I wud put forth the suggestion that while I agree 1000% w robust editing of insulting and rancor-filled posts, I'd b a bit more hesitant about excessive locking of so-called"pointless" threads, especially ones that r talking about the recent changes - I think if forum members, esp established ones, want to proffer opinions/ideas about how to keep the quality level up, there shud b the opportunity to do so: as such, perhaps a stickie thread entitled "general forum business" or something similar in which a running meta-analysis of sorts could take place, where the in a sense the mods could b moderated?

Anyway, it's definitely way better here now than it was a week ago...

Anyway, it's definitely way better here now than it was a week ago...

we need to lock this thread immediately!

How about this, in light of the trolls that get banned and then pop-up again a few days later:

1) all new accounts have a "probationary period" wherein they a) cannot start new threads, b) can only post in a designated "newbie" thread, where they introduce themselves, and can ask questions (it would, of course, mean that extant members would have to check in there regularly in order to answer them; this thread would be strictly moderated - abvious trolling would be snuffed out, but also there would be no newbie abuse allowed (e.g. "what a stupid question, u newbie ****"); once they have demonstrated appropriate social skills for a period of time, they are then allowed to post in the regular forum / start threads; if it is noted that with thei new found freedom their behavior changes into troll-like activity, they can be sent back to prohibitionary land w a warning that next time they wil b banned...;

just some ideas...

After Farah Fawcett died and got to heaven, God spoke to her and said, "Farah, throughout your life you were a good person, helped the less fortunate, and never let the fame you acheived go to your head. For this, I will grant you one wish."

Farah replied, "Well, since I am in heaven and have everything I need, I want you to do something nice for all the children in the world, something to make them safe".
