There have been a few recent posts that caught my attention. One that offended Southwind a bit. Now, I am a modern kinda guy but sometimes I think some of you guys take things a bit too far.

Southwind complained about not caring about seeing naked woman and you guys jumped all over him. I sorta kinda agree with him. Did some of you younger guys ever think some of us olders guys are offended by half naked women pics?

I am not an IT guy and I do not spend all day, every day on the computer / internet. When I come to the Kung Fu Forums I am only here to debate topics / help those with my knowledge if I can. When I am here some of you guys go off topic and do things like post pics of naked guys jumping off a peir with flames coming out of his behind (Masterkiller), Half naked Woman (Sanjiro Ronin), Photoshops of a Naked Gene Ching (Dave Ross) etc etc.

Now I understand sometimes everyone can get a bit goofey and we all like to laugh and relieve stress. However I am only here to discuss kung fu topics. GENE, can we get a new thread topic please? It should be called Naked pics by Sanjiro Ronin.

I like beautiful women just like anyone else but again I am here to discuss kung fu. If we can keep those pics there, it would keep the rest of us from being offended and also would keep the thread on topic! I know everyone likes to like look at naked females.. even me too. However if I want to look at Boobies, I will go home and look at my wife's. If I am really ***** I will go to a porn site if I need to go that far.

That's a slippery slope. I think that as long as the forum stays at a level of PG-13 that it really comes down to a matter of taste. We shouldn't censor taste. I suggest PG-13 because someone younger than 13 should not be on the internet by themselves.

I know we do not have to look at them but, sometimes as I scroll down.... Bam there is that chick on motorcycle in a thong. I am not saying these are bad things, but maybe not appropriate for the topic.

This is also not just about girl pics but pics of stupid stuff like flames coming out of a guys behind, or Gene naked with a book in front of his junk. Now I am not the majority here, but I think some of this kinda stuff derails threads. You guys that are online all day every day might enjoy this type of jovial posting. Did you ever think that are people that are not really into this kinda stuff, but actually enjoy debating topics and just plain ole discussing kung fu?

But if you notice that, outside of the threads that are done for the sole purpose of "eye candy", when I do post them, there is a reason and it is, quite typically, to end a trolling or a silly argument or even to just remind us that, we shouldn't take this so seriously as to say and write some of the things that people do.
It is my way of "lightening the mode" as opposed to closing a thread or something like that.

I do think Gino has a point. I rarely recommend this site to my students/CMA friends because of:
1. Rude behavior by some members that run opposite to the attitudes and respectful nature that I try to teach my students.
2. Inappropriate pictures that I wouldn't want my teenage son to see, let alone my other teen students.
3. Inappropriate comments, threats and challenges made by some that make all of us look like a bunch of thugs.

I'm fine with Sanjuro Ronin's pics, as I don't remember anything totally inappropriate. But I can understand ginosifu's concerns, too.

As far as people thinking the forum is a waste of time, let's be honest. Most people who aren't practitioners think that the martial arts themselves...whether karate, kung fu, wrestling, BJJ, etc.,...are a waste of time, anyway. Especially if the practice extends into someone's adulthood.

It's simply a matter of what people are interested in. I tend to think that 'reality TV', the Twilight movies, etc., are a waste, but there's lots of people who LOVE those things. This can apply to anything.

For me, the forum is one form of entertainment I drop into from time to time, and sometimes I get to learn something in the bargain.

We have to do some exercise to keep our body in shape. The TCMA training can not only give us a healthy body, it can also give us combat skill and fun to train. The day that we have retired from our life long job, the day that we will realize that our TCMA is our good friend and help us to enjoy the rest of our wonderful life.
