I'm gonna go with fook sao. cause he didn't really grip it so much as pick and hook which is "fook".

The "principle" is called "撈(Lao) - leg seize". The "technique" is called "撈月(Lao Yue) - Pick up the moon's reflection from the water". This is one of few throws that you can throw your opponent with just 1 contact point.

I have seen people duck kicks and hit the supporting leg. I don't think that I have ever seen it done like that. In "our" version of Five Animals it is a Snake Sweep.
