Long knife gang vs the meat clever gang. What was that, about 50 to 6 or so? One man with a tommy gun would have been able to do that job. As it was, No one wanted to get cut. A mad rush at them would have sent the whole gang rolling down the stairs.
I wonder what they were waying to one another. Cussing and name calling and such. Stuff like, Your mother is nasty, and she smokes cigarettes.

I think that the attacking gang got surprised by the fact that the defending gang were waiting for them with sharp weapons, as well. Otherwise, there may have been some serious injuries as the first gang seemed to walk in with serious intentions.
