See, the only people that think of posting stuff on Utube are those that are just starting out doing whatever it is they are doing. This was just his playing around, because it was not even near close to resembling the dummy form.

By my logic and understanding that would mean he doesnt do anything else resembling Ving Tsun either .

I would also assume that you are correct in your assumption, however, I don't think I seen him do much of anything else so I can not really tell.

LMFAO. Sometimes maybe its not a good idea to tell people we do VT because that is generally what goes on in this system. I bet that guy is a master or grandmaster. :D

I'm interested in seeing what "real"dummy striking/training looks like... any links to videos you guys would say are good?

We strike the dummy a bit differently in HFM...

Thanks for the clip!

Is the dummy used to train techniques only or is it used to condition the arms and hands as well?

Everyone has different ideas, the way I was taught was that it is definitely not for conditioning but I know that others on here would disagree. I would advise you to make up your own mind / ask your sifu. If your lineage emphasises sensitivity then deadening the nerves in the forearm would seem counter productive, on the other hand if you train to blast through then conditioning would be a good idea.

Well, I'm not a WC stylist but, it seems some WC has leaked it's way into Black Tiger... Our dummies are a bit different the only one that has arms and legs is the grinder dummy and it's made of concrete and metal. We train to blast through but still use sensitivity in training also...

What is the purpose of the dummy form?

An how can its techniques be used in actual fighting?

You need to understand the basic concepts, tactics, of ving tsun fighting, then it becomes clear.

The same question can be asked, "What's the purpose of a throwing dummy?"

http://www.karatedepot.com/bx-sb-138.html?gclid=CJfZlpT32asCFSg1gwodmi5aQg

The answer is, "When you don't have training partner, that throwing dummp will be the only thing that can help you to develop your throw."

i never see the concepts or tactics used in wing chun sparring!

i just see a punch of punches thrown front kicks and the two socking each other out! until one goes down!

striking somebody tactically and applying the concpets from the system is what Vt is all about!!!!!!

Maybe you belong to the "chain punch the air like a human egg beater untill something connects" school! :D

Actually I believe in punching your face to establish a bridge...When you parry, cover or attempt to strike back a bridge is formed. From the bridge you control your opponents center so you can strike and kick him with out him being able to strike you back as much. Pull him off balance, flank him, blind side him, turn his attack line away from your center. All the while you continuously punch his nose and chop his throat!
