In 2006, Swiss pilot Yves "Jetman" Rossy became the first man in history to fly like a bird, albeit with fiberglass and carbon fiber wings powered by kerosene-fueled engines. Since then he has crossed the English Channel and, most recently, flew over the Grand Canyon.

Rossy can fly at speeds of up to 190 miles per hour and to a height of 3,000 meters (9,842 feet).
