Up-and-coming director Zhao Linshan's latest historical romance film, "Bronze Sparrow Terrace" ("Tong Que Tai"), kicked off its shooting schedule yesterday in Zhuozhou Studio, Hebei province.

Actress Crystal Liu made a presentation at the press conference along with the director, xinhuanet.com reports.

The movie revolves around a love story between Tsao Tsao, portrayed by Hong Kong mega star Chow Yun-fat, and a girl named Lingju played by Crystal Liu.

Previous reports indicated that the leading female character would be played by South Korean singer and actress Yoon Eun-hye, but to everyone's surprise, Liu appeared at the press conference to announce she would join hands with Chow for the film.

The cast members also include Japanese actor Hiroshi Tamaki and Taiwanese actor Alec Su.

The movie is scheduled to be released on October 2012.

China's A-lister Chow Yun-fat has taken on the role of Cao Cao, a famous warlord from the Three Kingdoms Period.

Chow, Alec Su and Japanese actor Hiroshi Tamaki have attended a news conference to preview the historic epic "Tong Que Tai" ("The Bronze Sparrow Terrace").

Director Zhao Linshan says the film will focus on Cao Cao's later life, including his military affairs, love and relationship with his sons.

This is Zhao's first big-screen project. He normally only makes commercials.

Chow Yun-fat says the film will unveil a new side of Cao Cao, "I think the director and the screenwriter create a Cao Cao that is different from what we know from the books. He is more personalized. We are familiar with the Cao Cao on the battlefield, and this film looks at his family life."

Filming is now underway. It's due for release next October.

Honestly, I'm not sure that I'm that interested in Cao Cao's family life.
