Chainmail Iron Shirt Training

I've thought about buying some medieval-style chainmail to wear when walking about as I think this would make my body a lot stronger. However, as it is about £1000 to buy off my mate on ebay, I wanted to check first if it would actually make me a warrior?

Has anyone else done this kind of training?
