The action film "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains," named after the famous painting by Yuan Dynasty painter Huang Gongwang, will start shooting in September, 163.com reports.

Actor-singer Andy Lau and model-turned-actress Lin Chi-ling will play the lead male and female roles.

The relationship between them in the movie is similar to that of the American film "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," according to the report.

The shooting for the big-budget project will take place in six cities in four countries, including Hangzhou, Fuyang, Taipei, Tokyo, Milan and Dubai.

Chinese and American directors will co-direct the flick.

The film is about the story behind the painting entitled "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains," which is about to be publicly exhibited and causes a big stir among thieves and gangsters.

"Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains" is a 660-year-old landscape painting that was accidentally split in two some 300 years ago. After the smaller half had been restored, it was put on display in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum in Hangzhou, while the larger piece was exhibited at the Taipei Palace Museum. The two halves were rejoined in May and will be exhibited as a whole painting until September 25 at the Taipei Palace Museum.

This whole film is like this. There's some sort of plot about art theft and reuniting these two pieces of a treasured Ming diptych, but the rest is just absurd action, totally nonsensical, like a music video about comic book heroes. As much as I hate to make Hollywood actor analogies, Andy Lau is kind of like Harrison Ford was a few years ago to me - he's had some amazing roles, but is a mediocre actor at best - he just got super lucky with casting and now he's a superstar. I guess Andy sings well but I hate Cantopop. Switch was a big budget flick that got terrible reviews but still managed to do okay in China. It has lots of bad CGI, awesome villain lairs, amazing cityscape scenes (especially Dubai), crazy crazy leaps of logic, way too many characters to follow (it's no use as many of them just appear for a scene and never come back), romantic scenes that don't go anywhere, and super cheesey villains (ninjas, sumo wrasslers, white-haired Yakuza leaders, Brits, hotties in silver bikinis on skates with switchblades that flick out from their elbows). It's very old school HK film-making, totally unapologetic. This film makes no sense whatsoever.

Not only is there a sword fight, there are several, including simultaneous finale swordfights, one with western fencers and another with hot ninjettes flying around on tissue. I don't know why. But it was great. It's one of those films that is so gloriously gratuitously bad that it's good. I will watch it again. I may even have to force some of my friends to watch it.

Hong Kong stars Andy Lau (劉德華), Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文), and director Johnnie To (杜琪峯) attended the Shanghai TV Festival to promote their upcoming crime film, Blind Detective <盲探> this week. The trio’s fourth collaboration, Blind Detective tells the story of a competent female hit team inspector who recruits the help of a blind detective to solve a tricky case. Andy Lau stars as Detective Chong, a blinded crime solver with a sharp sense of smell and hearing.

After the poor reception of Andy’s latest film Switch <天機：富春山居圖>, Andy expressed that he hopes to make a forgiving comeback with Blind Detective. “Please don’t let [Switch] influence your perceptions on Blind Detective. Sammi Cheng is superb in it and Johnnie To is amazing.”

Switch, an action-adventure film about a lost Yuan Dynasty-painting, premiered in cinemas on June 9 in mainland China and June 12 in Hong Kong. Though the film had a 49 million RMB opening day in China, and managed to gross over 200 million RMB by the second week, the film was criticized for its illogical plot, poor dialogue, gratuitous scenes, and choppy editing.

“I admit that I am not very good at choosing the right film,” said Andy with laugh. “I sometimes think too highly of myself and tend to believe that whatever script have I have my hands on would end up being good. I will learn from this and do better next time. Sorry!”

Johnnie To added, “It is fate that Andy always ends up doing a bad film after a few good ones. We can never learn from mistakes if we never made one.”
