So I was trying to do some video editing with the program that came with my computer (Windows Movie Maker) and it's just awful.

I know all the good video programs are on Mac, but if anyone knows of any free editing software for PC's that's at least better than awful I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

You're welcome. Very cool that something so feature rich has gone open source.

ShaolinDan,

I like Windows Movie Maker, but I also use Corel Digital Studio 2010. Here is an example of a training video I made with the program:

You can also use Blender 3D (http://www.blender.org/) to edit video. Plenty of tutorials on Youtube covering the Blender video sequence editor. Open source, and available on Linux/Mac/Windows so whatever computer you're on you'll be able to use it. Worth learning for sure.

i make music and in post i use a few sony products which turned me onto a program called vegas. its like the video version of some of the audio progs i use. i d1cked around with it for awhile, for kicks, and it worked realy well. but i should note that if your PC doesnt have any muscle, rendering your files will take DAYS!!!

anyone serious about video editing should be aware that ur average HP familly comp will only take you so far... for example, with music, i have great specs for what i do and it still bogs down when i run like 20 tracks with plugins...
