Which category do you fall into??????

Types of posters found on an internet martial arts forum:

1. TMAers who believe in their art and don't believe in cross training.

2. MMAers who like to come onto a forum and tell everyone not doing MMA that they are wrong and suck.

3. Former TMAers who got schooled by an MMAer and have now "seen the light" of their wicked ways.

4. Martial Artists who simply train their style and whatever other style, technique, philosophy, ect, that they feel will improve their martial arts.

5. TMAers blinded by style loyalty and hatred of anything that challenges what their instructor taught them.

6. MMAers with an open mind who see the benefit of TMA and it's training methods.

7. Trolls

8. Posters who constantly bash and ridicule others with the "bullshido" mentality of how everything other than what they were told on an internet forum sucks and that even though they suck themselves (often by their own self-admission) they have every right to bash others who they really don't know anything about.

I train in Kung Fu with regularity and I post here.
Also I moderate here and contribute at other places to do with martial arts musings.

Where do I fit in?
Which seat shall I take?

Should I kick it in the front seat?
Kick it in the back seat?
Which seat should I take?
Fun Fun Fun!

I am a combination of these two, except replace bullshido with pseudo-intellectual.

In other words,

10. Jerks.

i'm just here and i am content with who i am, my life, and what i believe... this forum is a medium for inter-reacting with people in which we would not otherwise. every poster here contributes something to everyone in some shape or form... information, humour, idea's, bullsh!t, friendship, etc... what unites us all is our common interest in martial arts and self defense - if everyone was the same, this place would be rather bland. :)

learn and adapt

panda learned to chew on bamboos for a reason

brown bear fishes and eats berries for a reason

polar bear digs and hunts seals for a reason

there is wisdom in certain conventions.

survival is the key

fighting is no exception for people now and then (before).

etc etc.

Though my mentality would be closest to number 4, I have to admit that due to the shameful actual amount of practice I actually engage in, I could only classify myself as a fan of martial arts....

Yes. But not:

...and whatever other style, technique, philosophy, ect, that they feel will improve their martial arts

You left out that category. I'm not making a joke post here. You set up a false dichotomy. You can "simply train your style" without training anything else and there's no real need to train other stuff. The idea that such a person is a "TMAer blinded by style loyalty and hatred of anything that challenges what their instructor taught them" is just plain retarded.

I'm very sorry about your mental disability. Personally, I just simply train my style and can't be bothered to get my panties in a bunch over whatever hypothetical "deficiencies" there are in what I train. I'm not a professional MMA fighter so it's really a moot point. :p

Than apparantly you didn't read choice number 1 because that is what category you would fall under.;)
