Lan Sao (bar arm)
I know that across lineages we have the horizontal Lan Sao in common. TWC also has a vertical Lan in the Biu Jee form. It's about 1:21 and 1:26 here:

In the pic on the upper left of the following link you can see that YSKWC has a vertical Lan.http://www.wingchunkuen.com/sumnung/articles/article_lo01.html Does any one else have a vertical Lan?

Phil,

As in my yik kam 3 weapons clip. The kei jarng or erect elbow, when we use the bridge instead of elbow we call it kei .

oh wow, vertical lan sao...i never thought of it in those words. I cant be sure if I train anything similar because I'm not sure how the vertical lan sao should be according to you but I do remember reading that you trained under more than one sifu in Ving Tsun. So just as clarification, is the vertical lan sao similar to the "pek journ (sp?)" movement in the siu nim tao (second third, right after closing fak sao into lan sao) ?

tbh when i read the thread title i thought it'd be more like a vertical elbow strike in appearance but that def doesn't seem to be the case.
