Ok, so far the only thing I can see from searches it that the headgear is the kind with the catcher's mask-which we use, Handgear is the cobra chops.
Don't know what foot gear, shin, or chest gear is required or where to find it.

So far, we probably have several types of gear we use now;
point sparring/continuous sparring-same headgear-but foam hands and feet or ringstar
Sport JJ-different hands-still looking for what is accepted universally in this event
I've seen everything from foam to mma gloves

Each time I competed in Lei Tai we had the face guard and gloves, groin cup, and shoes, no other gear.

Since my son had his nose broken doing leitai at our school (oops!) I have insisted that students wear headgear with either the "catcher's mask" device or the plastic face cover add-on. We haven't had any injuries since then. :)

Around our area the kung fu tourneys all require 14 oz. gloves (which I personally hate). In our school we use the fingerless MMA type gloves.

BTW, we don't wear shoes, just the century shin guards.

TT,

Leitai USED to be synonymous with Kuoshu and it had unwaverable standards in place because of a rule that states "same, not same" meaning if he wears shoes, I can but only of the same type. If he goes barefoot, I must. If he doesn't tape his wrists or ankles, I cannot, etc.

I see that many folks are now doing Leitai events that are not necessarily affiliated with Kuoshu. But for those that are, the standard gear is (or was) as follows:

Hands (this or something identical, 4 oz. fingerless gloves): https://www.tigerclaw.com/tigers-claw-martial-arts-pr-8083.html

Shoes: https://www.tigerclaw.com/adidas-sm-ii-martial-arts-shoes-martial-arts-pr-8066.html

Again, same not same applies. So all gear must be near enough to identical to be allowed. But given all these new offshoot structures, you may need to contact the acutal promoter to see what they are accepting in their event. I am really only familiar with international Kuoshu Leitai rules and events.

Hope this helps a little. :)

TT,

Mike Patterson's post covers the question you asked me in detail.

when I did a kousho lei tai last October it was "kung fu shoes" if the laces were exposed they were taped over though I got the adias ones at martial arts mart

"kungfu pants" the tapered legs not the open leg type of karate gis

NO SHIN GUARDS etc

The pro force headgear with face mask

Cobra chop gloves

Then obviously a cup and mouth piece.....
