Wing Chun has both Crane and Snake aspects.

For instance in YKS the curl or concave body and convex back. This is consider a snake attribute for coiling and issuing force out.

The Wing Chun Yee Gee Kim Yueng Ma YGKYM or goat clamping stance is that of the white crane. Some forms of White Crane Qigong is similar to WC.

The Snake is an internal style that strikes, pierces and slips past the guards to hit the target with ease.

In short when WC Defends it does so with Crane.

When it attacks it does so with Snake.

Of course there are exceptions to the rule...

Some other comparison

Bong Sau = Crane

Crane Sizes the Fox = Crane

Bil Gee and Bill Sau = Snake

Gan Sau = crane

Huen Sau = Crane

Tan Sau = Crane

Fuk Sau = Crane

The Crane: The Crane is Evasive. It seeks to not be there. In other words you dont block bone against bone. You deflect the attack to lessen the force. You redirect the attack. You use distractions like Jut sau, Lop Sau and Pak Sau to gain entry! The Crane evades a strong arm bridge by flanking the opponent and attacking from the side. It doesn't collide head on into an opponent. The Crane defense is soft. The harder your opponent becomes the softer the crane is. Your opponents hardness will hurt him self when you deflect his attack. With crane you want to take the most dominant posistion you can to flank your opponent to prevent him from attacking you. Crane Movements are like Gliding across ice. Being Evasive like water. Body like cotton!

The Snake: Is about control. The snake seeks to intercept and control the opponent. Are bridge and control. Once you have control you simultaneously Strike, take down, or throw. Snake is a stand up grappler. Snake doesn't issue out random strikes. It only strikes when it can.

Please share any Crane attitudes you notice in Wing Chun

The tan sau , man sau, Kan sau, popai sau, fuk sau...ect are adopted from white crane. The using of both hand simultaneous is adapted fom white crane. The center line theory is the uniqueness of white crane in tcma . ....

Good chen stylists are also very much aware of the center line though their starting point and applications are different. Understood that WC center line POV didnt come from chen but likely from
southern crane... but true syntheses and synergy changed the original- so a good wc tan sao is no longer the crane (water?) palm. The evolution of the ma/horse in Ip Man type of YGKM changes the details of hand and foot dynamics from crane.
And- so many different cranes have developed- some of them are quite "hard" with muscle tension.
