Tan Tui,
The front toe kick in this clip is very good. If you stop at 0.07, you can see that his toes was up and then pressed down. The kicking path is a "downward curve". It's not easy to be able to develop a kick like that.

Compare to the following clip that:

- bend knee,
- fold lower leg and upper leg, and
- extend lower leg,

The execution is complete difference. The kicking path is an "upward curve". The missing part is

- raise toes up.
- press the toes down and forward, and
- kick with the ball of the foot.

Thanks YKW, do you know if there is much research material on the Muslim arts, like in other languages than English?:) I've only read a few articles on Tan Tui's historical Muslim link they must have tons of literature on their history in China wherever they keep Muslim records.. I have no idea where to look though. lol

I don't know anything like that. GM Han applied the Pao Chuan #3 toe push kick method in Tantui. People won't learn the intermediate kicking method in the beginner Tan Tui training stage. In Karate, they train toe push kick in the beginner stage. I don't know why in TCMA, it's considered as intermediate training. TCMA teachers just try to hide too much.

Why not give these metabolic circuits a try. When we train them, we also incorporate stance work and transitions into the circuits. Here are two basic ones:

Do them as fast as you can. Keep a timer to try and improve each set. 3-5 sets should get your heart rate up.
Circuit 1
Lunges- 24
Squats- 24
Jump Lunges- 24
Jump Squats- 12

Circuit 2
Squat Jumps-20
Squat Thrusts- 20
Squat Thrust Jumps- 10

btw, The first few lines of your post reads funny

Good luck on the "Ass building"... LOL :p

Leg holds are awesome for kicking form and strength, also slow kicking - taking 5 seconds at least for each kick, trying to perfect form and achieve height
