It's a strange thing to read about one's self in the third person (except here in the forum we're every one's got something to say about someone . . . or use to). Still people seem to be liking what they see. So for you all I'll post this fight scene exclusively.

Thanks,

This particular piece of art changed several time during the publishing process. At one point it was even going to be pulled from the story completely. Thankfully that is not the case. You can see the revised the art when you purchase (http://www.amazon.com/Little-Monk-Mantis-Birth-Legend/dp/0804842213/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326141559&sr=8-1) the book. :)

If so, and you win, I'll draw a little something special for it!

Martial artist and contributor to KFTC Stacey Nemour (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/stacey-nemour/new-kung-fu-childrens-boo_b_1541465.html), had some nice things to say about the book:

The book Little Monk and the Mantis is a thrilling tale from Hollywood screenwriter John Fusco of one boy's search for self-expression, courage and the peaceful, non-violent teachings at the root of true martial arts. This book is accompanied by beautiful art illustration by Patrick Lugo, who is art director for Kung Fu Tai Chi magazine

This is the fascinating story of how the Praying Mantis style came to be.

I posted a review on Amazon for you Patrick, but I don't have a camera right now to show you which copy I got. it looks like the one you put a picture up of, except the mantis is on the right side of your signature and your sig is alot shorter.

There was one book where I super-compressed my signature, signing PLUGO rather than my full name. I suspect you're the recipient of this utterly unique copy.

So far the books getting some solid reviews (http://www.amazon.com/review/R2P37UBFBO3QCW/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=0804842213&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=) over on Amazon.com

This book accomplished exactly what I hoped it would - introduced my kids to the practical, peaceful philosophy of Chinese martial arts...

though we could sure use more of 'em. ;)

This is a charming rendering of an ancient legend and will appeal to those who enjoy martial arts, myths, and legends, or just a good story. (http://citybookreview.com/2012/07/little-monk-and-the-mantis-a-bug-a-boy-and-the-birth-of-a-kung-fu-legend/)

got this for my 6 yr old nephew who just started studying martial arts. He loves it! He loves the story, and the artwork. And I'm happy knowing I got him something he can grow into, as he's learning to read books on his own now. It gives him another reason to practice reading! He even had his mom buy a copy as a gift for someone else, that's how much he digs it!
