Sorry there's no English subs. . . .yet...if I find a subtitled version I'll send you another link. The show is called "Kung Fu Quest" (second season). They are doing a highlight on Mongolian arts. I think Dino will want to see this:

On a side note, really interesting connection betweem archery and shuai jiao there. I never would have guessed it. They make a direct connection between the mechanics of drawing a bow and those invovled in grip fighting.

Sorry the archery bit is so short. They spent more time on training camels than they did on the archery.

Anyways, it's real mongolian archery. The two guys learning are a couple of MA instructors from Hong Kong. The guy laughing at the one guy for dropping the bow and the other guy for snapping his own arm with the string is a local mongolian wrestler.

Be careful what you say about the Rainbow Arrow, many have underestimated it's awesomeness and never lived to tell the tail.

Utah is not a city... btw, on the otherhand I didn't realize it was so gay either!

Fear the Rainbow!!! Fear the Rainbowwwwwww!!! :p

There's a really gay city over here too. I do fear the rainbow arrow. That's why I don't go there.

They have strength in numbers...

Kidding...btw.

Getting back on topic (why is it you all gotta keep posting gay tangents? Why? WHY?!?!), check out Peter Lorge's book, Chinese Martial Arts (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62608). There's a lot on archery.

Using a strong bow is a huge workout. When I first got my bow I had trouble drawing. Hurt my arm coz I was right on the edge of being strong enough. It's amazing how much stronger I am now from pulling on that fukcer!!!

Funny story. Last time I was visiting my pops we were out back shooting haystacks from about 20 meters. Not too far, but far enough to require skills. The track ran along the back wall of the workshop and my pops was doing some work on the roof the day before and had left out some scaffolding and there was a hose drapped over it and hanging down about three feet away from the centerline of the track and about halfway between us and the haystacks. I told my pops to move the garden hose and he just laughed and said "we're only lettin a few go, we'll never hit the hose." For the record I'm a good shot. But this time I messed up and on the first shot, sure enough, I went right through the hose. It was too ironic. Nice hose too. One of them expensive rubbery ones with the extra coatings. I wish I had that one on film.
