I'm looking for a piece of equipment for a punchingbag. My parents bought one that they never use, and won't let me use because it shakes the crap out of our house. So I was thinking about taking it back to college w/ me this fall and using it during loud hour.. My only problem is that I have no place to hang it. Do they make some sort of punching bag stand..something along the lines of a tripod setup with a bar you could hang the bag from instead of just hanging it from the ceiling? If they make this kind of stuff, where could I find it? I already checked out the online shop this site advertises, and I checked AWMA online....

They range from "expensive" to "oh my god, I wouldn't pay that much for a car!".

Here are some sites, my favorite (and most expensive) is at the top:

Hope ya find one you like. Think I'm gonna save up for a while before I get mine.

You ain't kidding, these things are F'n expensive..Well, some of them anyways. Definitely going to have to shop around for the right contraption to suit my needs. I found a couple that weren' too bad on price, and the base size was livable, but height would be a problem. Might have to wait on this until I get a single room (or the roomate gets kicked out. He's become quite a trouble-maker over the summer and we all doubt if he'll last long). But this would definitely be a worthwhile investment. It'd be worth the money to have the option of hitting the bag on off days when the school isn't open, and I can't see myself in a situation where I'd be able to mount a bag to a wall or ceiling for a very long time..

I guess i'm lucky, we've got 2 heavy bags at our school- 1 for punching 1 for punching and kicking. Also when I had money I picked up one of them BOB free standing waterfilled thingies. I can't use BOB cuz I'm on second floor, but I plan to once i'm out of here.

It'd be nice if there was something you could tie up around a tree and hit.

Actually....
LOL

BTW when I said school, i meant college.

I was thinking about cruisin the dumpsters if 'n when I get to Baltimore, so I can snag an old mattress, ore maybe a couch cushion. Thought maybe something like that would be cool to tie around a tree in the back yard and whale on until I get a decent heavy bag & stand. Otherwise, I'll just stick with BOB.

matresses and beds suck man, too much dust will leave you coughing more than punching. too soft as well. get a wing chun wall bag, goto a tree in the park, nail 3/4 nails in approriately and you can take the (filled) bag with u and leave the nails stuck in the wall/tree...
