I am interested in learning more about Southern Mantis books from the 1930s-1960s, although it seems there were very few published during that time period!
The only book on Southern Mantis I could find is "Mantis fist fighting forms" (螳螂拳散手) written in the 1950s by Ip Shui who taught in Hong Kong.

If you know any other written sources for Southern Mantis during that time period, I would like to hear more! It is interesting because Wong Hon Fun's Northern Mantis book series is quite famous...yet Southern Mantis seems to have very little published about it.

Thanks!

It's a very good book that has some vintage photos of Ip shui etc.

and there's this ebook from Roger Hagood:

Not seen any of it though as I am loath to spend $50 on it. He also doesn't include much Chow Gar from what I have heard.
