That is Ancient Chinese

The first two characters going from the left to the right might be Lung Chuan, but the last two characters might be Jing Da.

Lung Chuan Jing Da

Though Ancient Chinese is not my specialty

We have to read from right to left.

The first two may be Da Qing

Great Qing Dynasty.

The last word could be Di or enemy.

It is in Zhuang Ti or Zhuang characters.

I Could be wrong with a capital C.

The third character is Wu or no

Da Qing Wu Di

Great Qing no enemy or invincible.

There.

I do not think the sword is old at all.

It is a fake.

It says, "Made in Japan!"

It says 大清工融 which is da qing gong rong. It is read from right to left.
The translation is 'Great Qing Blacksmith' which means made by a smith of the Qing Dynasty.
This is the stamp you would see if the smith was working by imperial command.

It looks like a recently manufactured replica.

As I mentioned Ancient Chinese is not my forte at all.

Thank you, brothers for the translation help

It clearly isn't anyone else's on this thread too!

I already translated it as well as anyone could!

It says, "Made in Japan!"

the most popular qing dynasty sword engraving message is about destroying europeans. if its a generic message its probably fake.

The bronze has no patina. It is neither old nor rare. Probably quite recent even.

1- no one in their right mind cleans up an ancient sword so that there is no patina in the etched out parts!

2- It cannot be that old as even young bronze will start to patina after a few years of natural exposure, but with a little sweat on it? It will patina a lot over time.

This sword isn't likely to be old. Probably no more than a year or so maybe a little longer if someone has been cleaning it religiously.
