Production wrapped yesterday on Fist of Legend 전설의 주먹, a new South Korean action drama directed by KANG Woo-suk 강우석 | 康祐碩.
The story focuses on a reformed small-time crook who joins a martial arts reality show in order to pay for his daughter's medical bills. He has to make a tough choice when the gangsters that he used to run with offer him a bribe to throw the fight.
The film, which started production on 15 July, stars HWANG Jeong-min 황정민 | 黃晸玟, YU Jun-sang 유준상 | 劉俊相 and LEE Yo-won 이요원 | 李瑤媛. The script is by JANG Min-seok 장민석, who wrote Secret Reunion 의형제 (2010).
Production is by Cinema Service Co Ltd 시네마 서비스 with South Korean distribution and international sales both by CJ Entertainment Inc ＣＪ엔터테인먼트. The producers yesterday announced that the film will be released in April 2013.
Kang is one of South Korea's most successful directors — whose hits include Two Cops 투캅스 (1993), Public Enemy 공공의 적 (2002), Silmido 실미도 (2003) and Moss 이끼 (2010) — as well as a leading producer.
