I would have trained with those guys...I liked their approach to real-life combat. I remember the first MA guy I ever trained with at 14. He was an Isshinryu Sensai from Long Island, moved upstate so he could accuse us all of "being on our tractors" all the time.

Had a couple students and sat us down and asked why we wanted to do Karate. He said usually people will give him answers like, to learn the art or connect mind, body and spirit. He said just be honest. You guys want to be bad ****** and beat people up. The other guy I trained with asked him, "can this school be about beating people up and not about defending ourselves from muggers and rapists?"

Nappys comments on the locked Warrior Man thread made me think of this...now the racism thread is closed too, that was just getting good...I thought we were behaving ourselves there...life goes on...

to defend from mugger and rapist, you must become mugger and rapist.

like you said, strike first, strike hard, no mercy.

Yeah, why did the racism thread get closed? I was enjoying reading that.

Lol..nothing to do with Warrior Man, I sure do miss him though...just some reminiscing brought about by naps, Karate Kid analogy...but yeah I thought there was a lot of good opinions and view points being tossed around on the racism thread; and more respectfully than usual...

In out pursuit to stop what is wrong, we must make sure that we do not turn into what we most despise.

If only they had mastered the art of deadly wisdom. :(
A simple look of knowing and oneness and all could have left the wiser.
