Thumbs Up Gene.

I really liked this point:
"If you look at traditional Chinese Opera, a lot of the stories are based on very complicated characters, and one of the ways they are told apart aside from the costuming, are their unique weapon. A lot of the weapons we think of as common place in the Martial Arts, they may have been just made up for the opera. You don’t necessarily find archeological evidence of them ever existing, at least not in the form they are presented in the modern realm. Again, speaking to myth, that could be something that is evolving in a very recursive fashion, where you have these myths based on warriors, which turn into some sort of practice or discipline."

Gene will go to any length to plug his Monk Spade! (http://www.martialartsmart.com/45-84cs.html)

When we are fighting off the zombies with an ancient Shaolin weapon, I will be sure to give you the credit.

Great interview!
