Hello everyone! Well, i was around YT and i found this...

My first thought was that it was a MMORPG epic weapon but... I had to post it because my ignorance can't be forever. So, the question

Can someone tell me the name (and some history) of this weapon?

If memory serves, subitai( or O) once created a form for the star trek weapon

this made me snort a little. If I would've been drinking something, I'm sure I would have laughed it out my nose.

looks like this on steroids:

I learned this from Chan Tai San, he called it a sim cha; later on, another sifu of mine referred to it as a "sun moon blade"

It reminds me of a hack saw or buck saw without the serrated teeth.

If memory serves, subitai( or O) once created a form for the star trek weapon It wasn't Subitai. It was one of our mutual KF brothers. We've discussed it here. (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?p=910733#post910733)

So that weapon is not traditional... it's not even modern... it's futurist.

so we had traditional and modern martial arts, but now we have futuristic and alien martial arts... great...

A lot of the weapons used in TCMA are actually fairly recent inventions, and I'm not just talking about the wushu ones. But in regards to the wushu ones, you'll have to read my last cover story, The Southern Sword of Wushu, in our MAR+APR 2013 (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=1082#).

Haaaaa. Thanks for that Kellen. Don't forget the link (http://www.martialartsmart.com/dvdk-yr001.html). Although, as I allude to in my MAY+JUNE 2012 cover story (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=1036), The Spade, the Whip and the Mountain Gate (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=1042), the monk spade maybe be made up too.

As for the weapon that started this thread, I'd love to hear the story behind it. There are a lot of crazy folk weapons in CMA so I wouldn't go so far to discount it completely yet. It really looks absurd, however, so who knows? Folk weapons are a huge untapped field of research.

Can I compete with a set of nunchaku that are fashioned out of two hard stuffed squirrels that have the bearings afixed in their mouths?

You can compete with anything you like. I can't say you'll win, but I'll gladly accept your entry fees. :D

fantasy-ized version of hay cutter, a farming tool. non klingon normal version is half as long and rectangle shaped.

peasant makeshift weapon good for cutting legs. against a spear wall, frog walk under the spears and cut the legs.
