Any CLF people ever heard of a backfist (gwa choy) variation called the Lao Sing Choy? It was described to me as coming down vertically to strike the head or even the limb.

Thanks

we don't call it lau sing choy....but yeah...CLF covers all angles in regards to the back fist.

If I am not mistaken, hung gar might use that terminology. Like Frank we don't use it either.

Not CLF, but Sifu Jack Soderberg of Lama Pai uses that term. Check this video at around 6:19

we use what he terms as lao sing choy in our kwa sow combo

y'mean like you throw the double gwa, then launch the sow from the rear hand, while wheeling into a horse stance? Or, somethin' else entirely?

nah, we would use the kwa choy or as you're asking a single LAO SING CHOY to attack your incoming strike followed by the sow choy to your head

Okay, yeah, that's pretty much what I thought you were talking about.

White Crane/Lama uses the term lau sing sau or lau sing kyun--meteor fists, but the described technique (downward backfist) is called deng cheui--nailing strike. Meteor hands refers to the whole range of basic long power strikes. I've never heard the term used in CLF.

We have a section in a set that does the double gwa choy in opposite directions followed by a right poon kiu left sow choy combination but we simply refer to the double hammer strikes as sheung gwa choy. Again I have never heard the terms "lau sing choy" in CLF circles.
