If you could choose a specific list of weapons forms to learn, what would they be?

Here's mine:

Practical weapons:
knife
chain whip
staff

For-the-fun-of-it-weapons:
Hook swords
three-section staff

For Body mechanics:
spear(internal)

Man, I forgot those two. Of course, I did specify ones that have forms, so unless you can find me a school with atom bomb form, you're gonna have to find something else.

Perhaps greek fire?

Oh yeah, I forgot judge's pens(I think that's what they are called). We'll put them under practical, if illegal.

If Rolls can learn martial arts from video games then I can do atom bomb forms. :)

Rolls can't learn from video games, and you can't do an atom bomb form, now pick a weapon!

manriki gusari? What weapon is that?

Tigerstyle
11-13-2001, 12:42 AM
It's a Kama (small sickle-like weapon) with a chain attatched to the end of the handle, right? Usually a small weight or blade at the other end of the chain.

Man, too many Sho Kusugi movies...

No kama.

The manriki gusari is just the weighten chain. Usually about 3 feet in length, with small weights on each end.

here's a picture, but I wouldn't trust the welds on these.

I can tell I'm one of the only ones here that has no weapon forms. I've got this huge list, and everyone else has one specific one. Someday...

ok, like use taser technology, to rig a couple of metal "hard whips" so when you hit them it shocks you.

this is rediculous! They are seriously diluted if they think that vikings used helmets like that!! Thats only in the holywood they got horns..
That site sucked SO badly,, I wouldnt trust any weapon they sell. It prob. crap anyway..

as for forms:

i've already trained with knife, and this is something that we do alot when it comes to weapon training. I know 2 forms with knifes, and all the applications. I know 3 or four ways of disarming, uhh and a few knife vs knife tricks. Have trained with staff a few times but I dont think it is as cool as knife. Aaand Im pretty well rounded with the nunchacka. Played around with broadsword too, this is something I would like to train more with! LOVE swords!!!

I haven't trained with short staff (iron pipes are good street fighting weapons so I guess it would come in handy) yet, but i will soon...
Chain and dart rope would be TOO cool, but i dont think my sifu teaches these weapons.

h-bomb forms...

Gigante, you can't. I havne't found one yet. Basically, you have buy a crappy one so that you can get the weights. Then, you go and buy a good, welded link steel chain and weld the weights on yourself, (or have someone else weld it on.) The stuff I've bought from catalouges and online have all come apart under hard practice.

practical -

Cane (the taiji sabre form is probably pretty good for a start here)
Knife
Taiji Straight Sword (for further Cane skills)

The truly impractical -

3 section staff
Kwandao
long staff

The so embarrassing I can barely stand to type it -

"Batleth," a double ended curved sword held in the middle that Star Trek Klingons use.
