Man- I got to get that! The first Lethal Weapon Rocked! It was the first movie to use Gracie Jiujitsu & Jail House Rock.Plus I'm a little nutty like the Martin Riggs character. Woo Hoo!

Is Jailhouse Rock something besides an Elvis tune?

Apparently it is an African-American Martial Art.

I see...said the blind man as he reached for his hammer and saw.

Where is it used in Lethal Weapon? And what is it like more generally?

Thanks badger.

bandit - GJJ I remember from the triangle that Mel Gibson uses to choke out Gary Busey. SInce I know nothing about the Jailhouse Rock stuff, I can't speak to that.

The first part of the movie where he does the headbutt when the badguy has the gun on him. There are several scenes where he uses headbutt & elbow type stuff. Also alot of the stand-up fighting in the final fight. The ground stuff & throws were of course all BJJ.

OK. Didn't realise that the Gracies invented the triangle choke.

ABandit,
they didn't, but Rorion was a technical advisor/fight coordinator for at least the first Leathal Weapon.

In the closing credits of Lethal Weapon, you can see each martial artists' name alongside the art that they helped bring to the fight choreography of the film. Capoeira was also in the first movie's fight choreography.

In the second movie, the fight chorography was kickboxing based.

In the third movie, they returned to the Gracies for fight choreography.

The fourth movie was all about featuring Jet Li.

Whoah! Cool 52 Blows/Jailhouse Rock stuff. Looks like a good concept well executed. I have to wonder how legit the 'lineage' is, though. I mean, it's supposed to be a secret african american creation but the guy making these claims is putting technique demos on a web page? Does not compute.

i know they made mention of jail house rock in the novel of lethal weapon.
the movie rocked, like Mel doing psycho characters.
